The Medical Assistant Urgent Care is cross trained to perform a variety of administrative and clinical duties while working collaboratively with the providers, office supervisor, and practice manager. This position provides professional patient care such as recording vitals, taking patient history, and preparing patients for examination under the supervision of the provider. The Medical Assistant assists with providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes and functions as a liaison between patients, staff, and providers. The Medical Assistant strives to improve the health status, wellness, and quality of life for our customers, employees, and the community through disease prevention, health promotion, and injury care.

- Deliver direct patient care in outpatient clinics—take vitals and histories, document visits, give vaccines and meds, draw blood, run tests, and help with medication reconciliation under supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED-Required
- Program Medical Assisting-Required
- In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience-Required
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association- within 90 days of hire
- For an MA, you must have one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Performance Specialists (NPS)
