The posting
We are working with a highly successful CNC-focused precision shop in the Atlanta area. The role is for a sharp, hands-on Program/Project Engineer who can operate comfortably between the customer, the engineering team, and the manufacturing floor.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk and pass information back and forth. You will work directly with customers building complex hardware across aerospace, space, robotics, medical devices, defense, and other advanced technology markets, helping turn demanding engineering requirements into manufacturable, high-quality parts. You should be technically credible, mechanically minded, comfortable around CNC machining and precision manufacturing, and polished enough to lead technical conversations with customers.
What You’ll Do Own the technical relationship with customers from RFQ through production and delivery. Review drawings, CAD models, GD&T, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing requirements. Work directly with customers to resolve design, manufacturability, quality, and schedule issues. Translate customer requirements into clear direction for machinists, programmers, quality, purchasing, and production teams. Drive projects forward in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly. Support quoting, process development, new product introduction, and continuous improvement. Identify problems early, communicate them clearly, and push toward practical solutions rather than waiting for someone else to solve them.
What We’re Looking For Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Strong understanding of CNC machining, mechanical design, and precision manufacturing. Ability to read technical drawings and understand GD&T and tight-tolerance components. Experience in aerospace, robotics, medical device, defense, automotive, or other high-performance manufacturing environments. Strong customer-facing presence. You should be comfortable speaking with engineers, program managers, and technical leaders at sophisticated customers. Clear communicator who can simplify technical issues without losing the details. High ownership mentality, strong judgment, and comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
This is a strong fit for someone who wants to be close to the product, close to the customer, and close to the manufacturing process rather than buried inside a large engineering organization.
