Job description

Project Lead Writer (Narrative) Location: Remote (UK) Contract: Full-time

About Fusebox Games

At Fusebox Games, we create world-leading choice-based narrative mobile games enjoyed by millions of players around the globe. Since launching in 2016, we've become a leader in interactive narrative experiences through globally recognised licensed IPs and original stories. We're looking for an experienced Project Lead Writer to lead the narrative delivery of one of our live projects. This is a creative leadership role for someone who combines exceptional writing and editing skills with strong project management, people leadership and stakeholder management.

The Role As Project Lead Writer, you will own the narrative delivery of an entire game season from concept through to launch. You'll lead a team of writers, collaborate with Production, Product, Design and QA teams, and work closely with our external IP partners to ensure every release meets the highest creative and commercial standards.

You'll be responsible for maintaining narrative quality, ensuring milestones are met, coaching your team to deliver their best work, and continually improving how we create interactive stories. What You'll Be Doing

Project Leadership

  • Lead the narrative delivery of a complete game season from concept through release.
  • Own project planning alongside Production and the Narrative Producer.
  • Coordinate and lead writers' rooms, script development, reviews, rewrites, playtesting and launch.
  • Ensure narrative milestones are delivered on time and to a consistently high standard.
  • Drive continuous improvements to narrative workflows and delivery processes.

Writing & Narrative Quality

  • Write, edit and review interactive scripts to an exceptional standard.
  • Maintain consistency of character voice, tone, branching narrative and player agency.
  • Ensure all narrative content aligns with the IP, creative vision and Fusebox narrative standards.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues before release.
  • Champion best practice across interactive fiction writing and narrative design.

Team Leadership

  • Line manage and develop a team of writers across different experience levels.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and development conversations.
  • Coach writers to improve their storytelling, technical writing and delivery.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and development of new team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture.

Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across Product, Production, QA, Art and Design.
  • Work closely with external IP partners throughout development.
  • Present creative ideas, narrative documentation and project updates with confidence.
  • Balance creative ambition with gameplay, monetisation and production requirements.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines outstanding storytelling with strong leadership and organisational skills. You'll ideally have:

  • Extensive professional experience writing narrative content for games or interactive media.
  • Experience leading writers or narrative teams on large-scale creative projects.
  • Excellent editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of branching narrative, player agency and interactive storytelling.
  • Experience working with licensed IP or established brands.
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation and project management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative, positive and solutions-focused approach to leadership.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on mobile free-to-play games.
  • Experience supporting live service products.
  • Familiarity with narrative design tools and scripting pipelines.
  • Experience using player data and insights to inform narrative decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with external licensors or commercial partners.

Why Join Fusebox?

You'll have the opportunity to shape stories experienced by millions of players worldwide while leading a talented team of writers. You'll play a key role in the creative direction of our projects, influence how we build interactive narratives, and help develop the next generation of narrative talent at Fusebox. If you're passionate about storytelling, enjoy leading creative teams and thrive in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
