Job Title: Operations Assistant (Level 2) Location: G3 Hamilton The Operations Assistant performs a variety of duties related to the safe and efficient handling of grain throughout the facility. This role supports grain receiving, storage, processing, and shipping activities while contributing to a safe workplace, well-maintained facilities, reliable operations, positive customer service, and effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Receive grain by truck, including weighing trucks and collecting required documentation. Collect grain samples, evaluate grain quality, and operate grain cleaning equipment. Bin, transfer, ship grain by truck and vessel. Operate terminal control systems and other grain handling equipment as required. Assist with preventative maintenance activities and report equipment or facility issues. Operate equipment such as skid steers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, snow plows, and salter trucks. Perform housekeeping activities to maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility. Provide professional and courteous service to customers, commercial truck drivers, and other site visitors. Follow Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices. Work seasonal shifts, including weekends and occasional overnight shifts, as required. Perform other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
A commitment to working safely and following established operating procedures, site policies, and Environmental, Health and Safety requirements. Experience or aptitude for operating equipment and learning facility operating systems, grain handling processes, and related technology. Strong attention to detail when assessing grain quality, completing documentation, and monitoring operational activities. Effective communication skills and a professional approach when interacting with customers, commercial truck drivers, team members, and supervisors. Sound organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing operational requirements, and work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Physical capability to perform the demands of the position, including working at heights and in confined spaces. Availability to work seasonal shifts, weekends, and occasional overnight assignments. Valid Ontario driver's licence.
Assets The following would be considered assets:
Grain grading experience. Experience operating grain cleaning equipment. Maintenance experience. Farm or agricultural experience. Previous elevator or terminal experience.
