Job Description

Graduate Development Manager 2027

Locations: Leicester

Closing Date: 31st January 2027

Become a part of the UK’s top-rated construction and civil engineering graduate programme. Recognised as the No.1 choice for graduates and apprentices by TheJobCrowd and winner of the Environmental and Ethical Awareness category.

Our Graduate Development Programme is designed to give you a rich, hands-on experience where you will develop your technical skills, grow your network and gain professional qualifications if you want to.

Work with some of the best people in the industry in a full-time role, as you start an exciting and rewarding career where you will be enabled to add value to society.

We are proud to be a platinum member of the 5% club member based on the quality of training and development of our ‘earn as you learn’ opportunities.

What will you be doing?

Galliford Try Investments are seeking a Graduate to join their team in delivering new business opportunities in the development arena, predominantly on large scale city centre residential developments across the UK. This will involve working with a team in establishing new opportunities in which we can invest, bid and secure new projects, ensuring the successful delivery of these projects and maximising the opportunities for all parts of the Group.

You will:

  • Help to identify, track and develop future opportunities for GT Investments, predominantly in the Build to Rent residential sector.
  • Engage with clients, land owners and funding partners to develop a close relationship, gaining a broad understanding of their needs, requirements and pressures, (e.g. political and financial). Develop a partnership approach with the client involving all members of their team and appropriate members of the bid team and establish who the decision makers are and their key drivers.
  • Manage and coordinate the project process, ensuring all parties (including colleagues, external partners and professional advisors), have a clear understanding of the project strategy, what is expected of them and their responsibilities in the process.
  • Support the assembly, writing and submission of proposals and offers to ensure that they fully reflect the client’s requirements and manage our risks.
  • Coordinate, manage and attend meetings with the client and other members of the project team.
  • Support the production of presentations and participating in presentation of bid proposals to the client and other stakeholders.
  • Support the production of development appraisals for projects and ensuring inputs are received on time and are inclusive of all cost requirements.
  • Understand the risks of the project and manage the transfer of those risks where appropriate, working with the commercial team to deliver commercially acceptable solutions.
  • Engage with the design and build contractor, the design team, the service provider and other key partners, funders and advisors to produce an integrated solution that meets the desired requirements and fits within the financial constraints of the project.
  • Support internal reporting, board and consortium sign off procedures and processes including agreeing bid budgets and controlling expenditure.
  • Assist in the appointment of project advisors, design teams and specialists.
  • Support negotiation of contracts from Preferred Bidder to Financial Close.
  • Support the disposal of investment assets to align with our strategic investment plans.

This role is available for a September 2027 start, with the possibility of an earlier start date to suit yourself and the business.

As part of the graduate programme you will be expected to work in and around the location advertised, with the possibility for expanding travel to other projects and locations in the future. This may include staying away from home.

We believe recruitment should be human. Every application is reviewed personally by a member of our team, not screened out by artificial intelligence (AI). If we use AI tools at any stage of the process, we'll let you know what they're being used for and why. In return, we ask for you to be yourself, we're interested in your experiences, motivations and potential, so we encourage applications written in your own voice.

Step 2: Applicants who pass an initial screening stage will be invited to complete a pre-recorded video interview where you will be asked questions that allow you to showcase who you are; these will include self-awareness, curiosity and innovation, and your ability to articulate yourself well.

Step 3: The final stage of our interview process is an assessment centre made up of an individual interview, dynamic group tasks and a meet the team session to answer any questions you may have about the role or team you would be joining.

While we work hard to keep you updated with your application every step of the way, due to the high volume of applications and assessment centres taking place, please be mindful that there may be a delay at some stages in the process.

Please note: the closing date for applications is 31st January, please ensure you have applied before this time to be considered for the role.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
