The posting

Deadline to apply is November 1st, 2026!

As an intern at Gamebreaking Studios, you’ll get the opportunity to grow your game development skills in a passionate and highly collaborative environment. We’re looking for someone passionate about games to use their skills to make an impact on our Internal Games Team, which is currently working on Dungeon Rampage! This listing covers all non-engineering development disciplines. If you consider yourself to be an engineer, either backend or gameplay focused, please apply through the other engineering specific listing on our careers page!

In this internship, you’ll be primarily working on our Dungeon Rampage game or other potential internal game projects. Dungeon Rampage is a revival of a popular hack and slash flash game, engineered for Steam with some new improvements. On the Dungeon Rampage team you could be helping create new features, polish the play experience, fix important bugs, or creating other kinds of new content. Your contributions will directly contribute to the happiness of our players! Our Internal Games Team is focused on working on games that we as Gamebreaking own and are in charge of creating either independently or in partnership with a publisher.

At Gamebreaking, helping the growth of our interns is a top priority. We have a strong history of our interns being successful in the games industry both inside and outside of Gamebreaking. You will be paired with a highly experienced mentor to help guide your development throughout the program, as well as managerial resources to get you all the support you may need. We want to bring people onto our team who are hungry to grow and excited to make a big impact.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the skills listed here. We understand that your qualifications may shine through in different ways and can be based on unique perspectives and experiences.

Gamebreaking Studios is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity, and are committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for our team.

We do not use AI to screen our candidates, and we encourage you not to use AI as part of your application or cover letter so your personality can shine!

Duration and Employment Status

We are a fully remote working environment seeking current students, recent graduates ~1 year out of universities, or those with similar experience to join our company. This is an entry-level position with no prior work experience required, though candidates with prior work experience will be considered.

This position is a paid internship between 3 and 6 months duration, with the possibility of a direct hire to full-time at its conclusion. We seek a candidate able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with a preference for 40 hours. Candidates must be able to start work no later than January 12th, 2027. Otherwise, the duration and timeframe of this internship are flexible depending on the candidate and their situation.

Benefits and employment duration may differ based on student status and country-specific laws

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • A passion for games and entertainment that shows. Whether you love video games, board games, cosplay, or freeze tag — we want to know! If it doesn’t shine through your resume (e.g. work, academic, or community experience), please submit a cover letter.
  • 2+ years of experience in your discipline (academic or demonstrable personal projects are acceptable)
  • Enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a university program or an equivalent program focused on Game Development or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated and willing to work in multiple areas of game development
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Pluses

  • Worked on a game project with a team of developers before
  • Any showable game projects, or portfolios of your work

Your responsibilities

  • Be hungry to learn and grow
  • Show strong initiative when planning and executing your tasks
  • Clearly communicate progress on tasks with other team members
  • Regularly contribute to team meetings and rituals
  • Speak up and improve our company culture where possible
  • AI usage is not allowed for the internship. Ask lots of questions, utilize online resources from other engineers, and develop your skills through practice and experimenting

Our Responsibilities to You

  • Encourage healthy working hours, PTO, and a respect for your time
  • Foster an environment of equal opportunity, treatment, and inclusion
  • Create a fun and playful environment that remains professional and respectful
  • Grow our culture positively and meaningfully through a high level of transparency and thoughtful conversation
  • Provide opportunities and support for you to learn and grow

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
