Job Summary:
The Weekend and MME Specialist brings programming, communication, and on-site leadership strength to weekend services and Major Ministry Events. Working closely with the Creative Director, this role helps develop service and event flow, translates ministry direction into clear run-of-show plans, and serves as a floor manager for assigned services and events. The Specialist builds strong relationships across departments and campuses, equips Serve Teams in person, and helps the team improve the experience people have in the room and across Gateway's campuses.
Principal Job Responsibilities:
- Partners with the Creative Director on weekend service programming and MME programming, including service flow, transitions, ministry moments, timing, and campus participation
- Develops and maintains programming content for run of show, service notes, cues, and rehearsal plans in collaboration with Worship, Live Production, ministry leaders, and the Manager; ensures approved versions are shared with the Coordinator for distribution and records
- Oversees the floor manager team for assigned weekend services and events, serving as floor manager when needed; guides on-site execution of the program, communicates cues and adjustments, and works with partner teams to resolve live issues.
- Works closely with the Manager so programming, production, event logistics, lobby experience, and campus execution support the same event direction
- Contributes creative and strategic ideas for service and event experiences while partnering with Communications on the visual identity and creative work entrusted to that department
- Builds relationships across campuses and departments, occasionally visiting campus weekend services to understand the local experience, gather feedback, and strengthen alignment
- Trains, encourages, and leads Serve Team members in person for assigned programming and event-day roles, partnering with the Coordinator on recruiting, scheduling, and communication
- Participates in planning meetings and leads programming rehearsals and run-throughs in partnership with Worship and Live Production
- Helps evaluate service and event flow, volunteer readiness, and the congregant experience, and recommends practical improvements for future weekends and MMEs
- Partners well with departments responsible for related work, communicating needs early and helping develop workable solutions together
- Is present and actively serving at weekend services, including occasional campus visits, and at churchwide events as the ministry calendar requires
- Performs other duties as assigned.
As a member of the Gateway Church team, this position is expected to support, recruit, and develop Serve Team members, and to serve alongside the broader team as ministry and organizational needs arise.
General Skills & Qualifications:
- A clear passion for Jesus and a strong biblical foundation
- Experience programming live services or events and shaping compelling, clear event flow
- Strong strategic and creative judgment paired with careful attention to timing, details, and follow-through
- Exceptional relational awareness and ability to build trust with staff, campus teams, volunteers, and ministry leaders
- Skilled, engaging verbal communicator who can train, rally, and give clear direction to Serve Teams
- Ability to prepare run of show, communicate live cues, and lead confidently as a floor manager
- Comfortable working with Worship, Live Production, Communications, and other departments on shared outcomes and their respective areas of expertise
- Calm, adaptable, and solution-oriented when live plans change; able to assess tradeoffs and respond with a positive, practical approach
- Able to move between big-picture thinking and hands-on execution during services and events
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to hold several priorities at once
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and function within new software and systems
Education/Certification(s):
- High school diploma or equivalent, and three or more years of experience in live service or event programming, production, or related ministry leadership — required
- Bachelor's degree — preferred
- Prior experience in a multisite church or large-venue environment — preferred
General Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Occasionally kneel or crouch
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods during events, lift and move up to 40 lbs, and work weekends, evenings, and extended event days
