Job Description:

At GDIT, our people are our business. We pride ourselves on the work our innovators do to support and secure some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects across the world. We wouldn't be successful without our ability to attract new talent to join our team.

What sets a GDIT internship apart?

  • GDIT's Summer Internship Program is designed with you in mind! Over 10 weeks, you will:
  • Work side by side with sales engineers, business development executives, and solution architects on real federal pursuits.
  • Collaborate with a team of peers to research and propose a solution to a business challenge.
  • Participate in a mentoring circle led by an early career champion.
  • Interact with GDIT leaders.
  • Participate in professional development.

How you'll make this internship your own

Do you love building things and explaining them? This internship is for computer science and engineering students who want to see how technology gets sold, not just built.

You will join the Sales Enablement team in our FedCiv Growth organization, where we help federal civilian agencies see what is possible with data, AI, cybersecurity, and IT modernization. You will use AI-assisted development and rapid prototyping (including vibe coding) to turn a customer's mission problem into a working demo in days, then help our business development team tell that story. You'll leave with demos for your portfolio, customer-facing experience, and an inside look at how the federal market works.

No sales experience needed. We'll teach you the business side; bring your technical skills, creativity, and curiosity.

A day in the life

1. Build demos and proofs of concept

  • Rapidly prototype demos and proofs of concept using AI coding assistants (for example Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor), low-code platforms, and other rapid development tools.
  • Come up with creative ways to turn customer pain points into short demonstrations that show the art of the possible.
  • Learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and apply them to new customer scenarios.
  • Help keep reusable demo assets current.

2. Support the sales team and pursuits

  • Shadow and support business development executives on opportunity pursuits.
  • Help prepare for customer discovery meetings from a technical perspective, including researching the agency, mission, priorities, current technologies, and capturing requirements and next steps.
  • Help plan and execute Art of the Possible demonstration days, industry days, and customer workshops.

3. Create sales enablement content

  • Support creation of briefing decks, capability one-pagers, demo scripts, and recorded demo videos helping turn technology into reality.
  • Present your work to the team and GDIT leaders, including an end-of-summer showcase.
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback from sellers, engineers, and leaders.

What you'll need to deliver your best every day

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas in plain language.
  • Creativity to see more than one way to solve a problem and find the idea that makes an audience lean in.
  • A builder's mindset and a preference for showing a working prototype over describing one.
  • Coachability, including welcoming feedback and pivoting quickly to a better version.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ask for help when needed.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a nimble mindset.
  • Ability to build relationships with managers and teammates in a hybrid environment.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams).

The must-haves

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field at a United States-based college or university.
  • Programming experience in at least one modern language (for example Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C#) through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Minimum of one semester remaining in your studies after the internship concludes.
  • US Person

What will make you a stand-out candidate

  • Projects where you built software end to end: a web app, API, data pipeline, game, or capstone project.
  • Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools.
  • Coursework or projects in cloud computing, data and analytics, AI/machine learning, or cybersecurity.
  • Hands-on use of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud through student credits or personal projects.
  • Experience presenting technical work: hackathon pitches, capstone demos, research posters, TA roles, or student organization leadership.
  • A portfolio or examples of creative things you've built.
  • Interest in government technology, consulting, or a client-facing tech career.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
