Job Description Summary

The Advanced Military Ceramics Materials Application Engineer will play a key role in developing and applying advanced ceramic coating and oxide-oxide ceramic matrix composite (Ox-Ox CMC) systems for next-generation military aerospace products. In this role, you will help mature new materials technologies for hardware applications while also supporting the sustainment and improvement of legacy coating systems. This position requires close collaboration with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to identify, develop, and implement innovative materials and process solutions that support product performance, manufacturability, and long-term business goals.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program leadership, supply chain, quality, and systems teams to evaluate and support adoption of new materials and process technologies aligned with near-term and long-term business objectives.
  • Work with supply chain partners to resolve production and pre-production materials and process issues, and proactively identify potential technical or execution risks.
  • Partner with consulting engineers and technology leaders to evaluate concepts from materials roadmaps and support execution of early-stage technology development efforts.
  • Lead or support technical coating development programs aimed at reducing technical risk and advancing material capability for future applications.
  • Work across multidisciplinary teams including materials, design, and manufacturing engineering to mature coating technologies through established technology and manufacturing readiness processes.
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and materials science to develop coating systems that meet performance requirements for metallic and composite hardware.
  • Prepare technical documentation and analysis to support internal peer reviews and customer reviews.
  • Present technical data and program updates at technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
  • Recommend solutions to materials and manufacturing process challenges using sound engineering judgment, best practices, and data-driven analysis.
  • Capture lessons learned and best practices and ensure they are documented and shared appropriately.
  • Communicate significant technical developments to leadership and contribute to technical roadmaps that shape future technology development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited college or university with minimum of 4 years of professional experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering, research, or materials/process development.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with standard office software tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications.
  • Experience in materials and process development.
  • Experience with material selection, material behavior, and manufacturing processes.
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Experience leading technical development programs and managing milestone commitments.
  • Advanced degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
