Job Description Summary

Collaborate with multidisciplinary team of engineers to help lead our thermal-structural FEA analysis activities for hypersonic propulsion hardware design, As a Senior Structural and Thermal Analysis Engineer, you will help lead thermal-structural finite element analysis (FEA) for hypersonic propulsion hardware, supporting both ground and flight applications. Based in Rockledge, FL (with an additional posting location in Bohemia, NY), you will work in a multidisciplinary team. Your analysis will guide the design of hypersonic components from proof-of-concept through manufacturing and test.

This role has meaningful autonomy and visibility. You will use your technical depth, engineering judgment, and communication skills to lead design reviews, translate analysis results into design decisions, and keep programs on track against technical, cost, and schedule goals.

Job Description

In this role you will:

  • Lead thermal-structural analysis of prototype components and subsystems to support rapid development of hypersonic propulsion systems.
  • Build and run thermal-structural ANSYS/FEA models, working with teammates to define appropriate boundary conditions and constraints. These give a detailed account of each component's thermal-structural response.
  • Apply engineering principles to assess the integrity and thermal-structural performance of components and subsystems, and use the results to guide design.
  • Perform lifetime/cycle, reliability, and elastic-plastic analyses as program needs require.
  • Help the team develop thermal-structural systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable components, including the transition to manufacturing and testing.
  • Partner with Integrated Product Teams to lead analysis and deliver informed recommendations. These help the team develop and verify novel design solutions that meet program requirements (technical, cost, schedule).
  • Document and communicate assumptions, inputs, and results to multidisciplinary teams for review.
  • Lead design reviews and prepare technical reports and presentations for the team and, when needed, the customer.
  • Mentor and coach team members in thermal-structural analysis methods.

The Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced thermal-structural analyst who is comfortable owning complex analysis and explaining it clearly. You have deep FEA expertise, especially in ANSYS. You also understand how analysis fits into the broader design, manufacturing, and test process.

You are analytical and a critical thinker. You challenge existing processes, prioritize well, and learn quickly. You work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team across multiple sites, and you lead through clear communication, sound decisions, and collaboration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of thermal/structural analysis experience, with expertise in FEA, particularly ANSYS.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and how to apply them to technical tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required. This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions, and GE will require proof of status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in the high-speed aerospace propulsion industry.
  • Understanding of compressible flow, structures, and heat transfer, and of aerospace materials for high-temperature applications.
  • Experience with lifetime/cycle analysis, reliability assessment, and elastic-plastic analysis.
  • Prior experience with NX (CAD).
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and collaboration skills, with leadership ability.
  • Willingness to mentor staff in thermal-structural analysis methods.
  • Analytical, problem-solving mindset that challenges existing processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team across multiple sites.
  • Quick learner who prioritizes strategically and stays committed to results.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
