Job Description Summary

• The vision of the SVO- New Products team is to create robust but cost-effective wind turbine product designs by providing best-in-class system value optimization, load assessment, validation, methods, and tools.

• As a SVO engineer, you will perform system value optimization work, deliver loads and cosims, prepare certification documentation, support method/standard work development, and develop the loads toolchain.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform system value optimizationHelp perform system value optimization work, making tradeoffs in the loads, stability, operation, and performance of the product Help perform feasibility studies and develop tech charts
  • Deliver NPI/DTO loadsPrepare loads inputs, create the simulation model, execute loads simulations, and perform post processing Perform basic operability checks and frequency domain stability checks Hand off model and controller parameters to MLA Update load envelopes
  • Prepare load certification docsPrepare certification load packages and documentation Help address questions from certification bodies
  • Deliver cosimsPrepare co-simulation for validation activities for prototype and fleet leader validation Help resolve gaps seen between simulations and field measurement.
  • Develop methods and standard workHelp develop advancements in load methods Help develop DP and standard work updates
  • Develop loads tool chainHelp develop improvements to the pre and post processing toolchain (excludes One Wind tools)
  • OverarchingHelp prepare design reviews Help prepare technical underwriting documents to support design reviews Help assess risk and develop mitigation strategies Help update loads DFMEA Support lean and industrialization initiatives

Qualification/Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering from accredited university (or equivalent)

  • Technical awareness about preparing loads for wind turbines
  • Problem solving skills for complex problems
  • Software development skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, clarity of thought, and ability to defend a technical position
  • Master of Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering
  • GE Renewable Energy Edison Engineer
  • Completion of Corporate required training for the Edison Engineering Development Program
  • Strong candidate identified
