Job Description Summary
As a contributing member of the LOCA and Containment Team, you will perform plant thermal-hydraulic safety analysis with two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
You will support reload and design applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (ABWR, BWRX) operating or planned worldwide.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform technical evaluations and analyses in the areas of Emergency Core Cooling System Loss of Coolant Accidents, containment response and impact, hydrodynamic and pressurization loads, and fuel performance.
- General knowledge in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
- Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers.
- Ensure work is performed with high quality and in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
- Participate in company initiatives, including process improvement and New Product Introduction opportunities.
- Participate in team process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Work in cross-disciplinary settings, engaging with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, and other affiliated organizations to identify optimum customer solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
- 1+ year performing Thermal Hydraulic Analysis.
Eligibility Requirements
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; opportunity is also available to be performed in Atlanta (GA), Schenectady (NY), or Greenville, SC (Relocation Assistance can be provided).
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in thermal-hydraulic modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems.
- Experience in a BWR and/or PWR environment.
- Experience with T/H system codes such as TRACG, TRACE, RELAP, or RETRAN.
- Experience with programming (C#, FORTRAN, PYTHON).
- Team player, building connections with the team through personal involvement and trust.
- Ability to seek simple solutions to complex problems.
- Communicates in an open, candid, clear, and consistent manner.
- Detail-oriented, able to prioritize work, and accountable for completion of work and assignments.
- Prior Nuclear Engineering internship/co-op experience is preferred.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $79,400.00 and $137,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
