Job Description Summary

GE Vernova is seeking an accomplished technical leader to serve as the primary solution architect and technical authority for a large, highly available Electricity Market Management System (MMS). In this role, you will provide end-to-end technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, guiding architecture, design, delivery, integration, and support for a mission-critical platform used in complex wholesale electricity market operations.

You will partner closely with customers, product teams, project management, and cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements, establish technical direction, and ensure successful delivery of scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions. This role requires strong technical judgment, deep domain knowledge, and the ability to influence decisions across teams and functions.

This is an opportunity to lead the technical vision for a sophisticated platform operating in a high-security, high-availability environment and leveraging modern software technologies. The role is well suited for a seasoned professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys driving solutions from concept through delivery.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for the full project, providing solution architecture direction, design oversight, and technical governance across all phases of delivery.
  • Lead system-level solution architecture discussions, design reviews, and solution decisions across multiple modules and teams.
  • Define and drive technical strategy, ensuring alignment with product architecture, performance, scalability, security, and maintainability requirements.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, assess technical options, and shape solution approaches.
  • Own high-level and detailed technical design decisions, including interfaces, integrations, data flows, and system dependencies.
  • Provide guidance to engineering teams on implementation approach, technical standards, and code quality expectations.
  • Support estimation, planning, and technical risk assessment for major project deliverables.
  • Ensure effective coordination across engineering, project management, product development, and customer-facing teams.
  • Promote standardization, reuse, and appropriate use of product capabilities to minimize unnecessary customization.
  • Lead technical problem-solving efforts, including production issues, defect resolution, and performance optimization.
  • Mentor engineers and other technical team members, supporting growth, consistency, and technical excellence across the project.
  • Ensure technical deliverables are completed in accordance with scope, schedule, quality, and customer expectations.
  • Document solution architectural decisions, technical solutions, and implementation guidance as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in Market Management Systems (MMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), or a technical leadership role within the electric utility industry.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a technical leader for complex software projects or systems.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of Market Management Systems, including Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch.
  • Strong knowledge of power system applications and/or optimization techniques.
  • Proven experience leading analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues in complex MMS applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, integration patterns, and system design principles.
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS; PostgreSQL experience is a plus.
  • Experience deploying applications in on-premises and/or cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including GitOps, CI/CD, and source control management.
  • Experience with tools such as Git, Maven, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible.
  • Exposure to Kafka, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Prometheus, and Jaeger is a plus.
  • Understanding of Java programming concepts, Spring Boot, modern web clients such as TypeScript or JavaScript, and RESTful APIs is a plus.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong ownership and accountability for technical outcomes across the full project lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and drive alignment across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently assess problems, define solutions, and make sound technical decisions.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills across complex, multi-layered systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, tools, and development practices.
  • Detail-oriented, customer focused, and committed to delivering high-quality solutions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
