Job Description Summary

If you want to be part of the energy transformation, build a meaningful career, and work on complex solutions—such as carbon capture, decarbonization, fast power, and grid stabilization that will change how power is delivered to the world, join the GE Gas Power Controls team. As a global technical lead for our world-class engineering team, you will be empowered within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment to drive continuous improvement using Lean principles. In this role, you will guide the development, fulfillment, and validation of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and plant control hardware and software, collaborating with GE engineering teams and external partners to design and implement innovative solutions for combined cycle power plants that have a lasting impact on the energy sector.

In this System Architect role, you will exercise moderate autonomy and judgment within a complex environment to provide technical oversight for Plant Controls development and New Product Introductions (NPIs). As a critical leader, you will drive a culture of technical depth, contemporary leadership, and a customer-focused mindset while ensuring on-time, high-quality execution. You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders; developing the persuasion skills necessary to communicate sensitive or complex information and build consensus while guiding and mentoring software development teams. By applying Lean principles to solve problems and drive productivity, you will lead design reviews and oversee the development of software work processes and technical standards to ensure all customer requirements are met.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & System Architecture: Lead and guide Plant Controls New Product Introductions (NPIs) and standards development. Define control system architecture for plant applications, ensuring integrated, system-level solutions by collaborating with Mechanical, Thermal, and Balance of Plant (BOP) engineering teams.

Engineering Excellence & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers. Conduct milestone design reviews to ensure all control features and quality outputs meet established acceptance criteria, while supporting Gas Turbine (GT) and Steam Turbine (ST) interface coordination for seamless combined cycle operations.

Process Standards & Documentation: Develop, maintain, and own the documentation and work instructions for Plant Controls software standard processes. Drive strategy for Agile enterprise tools, including integration with Configuration Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems to optimize software development throughput.

Customer & Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary technical coordinator with internal and external customers. Maintain strong relationships within the Plant and Systems engineering communities to gather requirements, communicate technical needs, and drive project solutions that ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.

Continuous Improvement: Define and deliver productivity and process improvements using Lean principles to increase the capacity and efficiency of the Plant Controls Standards team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • Significant experience with controls development on the MarkVIe platform.
  • Demonstrated experience with HRSG and BOP Controls, preferably in a combined cycle power plant.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Technical expertise in Plant Controls and combined cycle power plant control systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience guiding teams through the full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed environment with strong collaboration, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate teams, customers, and suppliers while translating complex technical concepts into clear, compelling messages.
  • Systems integration mindset, with the ability to understand customer requirements and develop innovative, reliable solutions across the power plant.
  • Proven change agent with a track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives, influencing across all levels of the organization, and incorporating lessons learned into standard practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate and influence within a global matrixed organization while fostering cross-functional collaboration across regions and cultures.
  • Deep technical expertise in HRSG Controls and integrated combined cycle power plant control systems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of power plant thermodynamic principles and their impact on control system design, performance, and optimization.
  • Experience working within Agile development methodologies and cross-functional Agile teams.

For US Based Candidates

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or related engineering or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with controls development in the Mark VIe platform.
  • 2 years demonstrated experience with HRSG and BOP Controls, preferably in Combined Cycle Power Plant.

Eligibility Requirements:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
