  • Develop and execute U.S. and Canada customs operations strategies that ensure compliance, operational excellence, cost optimization, and business continuity.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing customs operations team through effective coaching and talent development.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise on customs regulations, import processes, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance compliance, service levels, productivity, visibility, and operational efficiency.
  • Leverage KPIs, analytics, and performance metrics to support data-driven decision-making and operational governance.
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to implement Global Trade Management (GTM) and ERP system enhancements, automation solutions, and technology-driven process improvements.
  • Establish/Manage broker governance programs, including performance measurement, escalation management, corrective actions, and service improvement plans.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Logistics, Sourcing, Regulatory, Product Compliance, Planning, Finance, and external service providers to optimize import processes and reduce clearance delays.
  • Lead shipment exception management and critical issue resolution to minimize supply chain disruptions and customer impact.
  • Develop reporting tools, dashboards, and operational insights that improve transparency, accountability, and performance management.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to standardize processes, mitigate compliance risk, and improve operational outcomes.
  • Apply technical expertise, analytical thinking, and sound judgment to resolve complex customs and supply chain challenges while balancing compliance, operational, and business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for stakeholders and team members, leading projects and driving consensus on customs and trade compliance matters.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience)
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Customs / US Border Expertise
  • Ability to communicate (verbal, written) in English
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Smartsheet, and AI tools.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • LCB, CCS, APICS/ASCM certification, or equivalent professional credentials preferred
  • Proven experience in customs operations, trade compliance, international logistics, and broker management
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import processes, customs entries, and compliance requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
