Ready to Power a Smarter World with us?

The Staff Systems Engineer, Home Standby Systems Engineering serves as a senior systems integrator for the Generac Home organization, bringing mechanical, electronic, and firmware component-level work together into a complete Home Standby product. This role partners closely with radio, controller, engine, manufacturing, and applications teams to define, document, manage, communicate, verify, and validate system-level requirements throughout new-product development and ongoing project work. You will leverage Codebeamer for requirements tracking and independently drive broad technical direction through completion.

Major Responsibilities

  • Serves as the systems integrator for Home Standby products, bringing mechanical, electronic, and embedded firmware subsystems together into one complete product.
  • Partners with radio, controller, engine, manufacturing, applications, and other engineering teams to define subsystem interfaces and resolve integration issues.
  • Gathers customer and stakeholder needs and develops, documents, communicates, maintains, and manages system-level requirements.
  • Uses Codebeamer to manage requirements.
  • Defines verification and validation strategies and ensures test plans and results demonstrate that system requirements have been met.
  • Develops and maintains system architecture, block and boundary diagrams, system inputs and outputs, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Leads and participates in technical design reviews, integration reviews, and cross-functional decision making across the product lifecycle.
  • Applies DFMEA and DVP&R methods to identify technical risks, define controls, establish validation coverage, and track mitigation actions.
  • Reviews 3D CAD models in Creo, SolidWorks, or comparable environments to understand interfaces, packaging, and integration constraints; advanced CAD modeling is not a primary responsibility.
  • Identifies and communicates system risks, opportunities, dependencies, priorities, and recommended actions to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Independently translates broad technical direction into executable plans and drives work through completion in a developing systems engineering function.
  • Mentors less experienced engineers and promotes consistent requirements, documentation, integration, and validation practices.
  • Supports product development plans in delivering on-schedule, on-cost, on-quality, and compliant solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including systems engineering or systems integration for complex products with interacting mechanical, electrical/electronic, and embedded firmware subsystems

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline
  • INCOSE certification
  • Experience with Home Standby generators, power management systems, or other complex products combining mechanical, electrical/electronic, controls, and embedded firmware subsystems
  • Experience with systems engineering and requirements management in a product development environment, including the V-model.
  • Codebeamer experience for requirements management, traceability, and verification tracking.
  • Creo experience; comparable 3D CAD experience such as SolidWorks is also relevant.
  • JIRA and Confluence experience.
  • Experience with radio communications, controllers, engine control modules, manufacturing integration, or connected applications.
  • Experience creating system architecture documents, including block diagrams, boundary diagrams, schematics, interconnect diagrams, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and translate technical information for varied audiences.
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems, electromechanical packaging, and applicable regulatory standards.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
