About the Company

General Matter enriches uranium.

We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US.

In the process, we are restoring America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive.

Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way.

Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society.

We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms.

Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.

We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.

Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.

About This Role

We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep General Matter’s facilities clean, organized, safe, and fully operational throughout the workday. Working Monday through Friday during daytime hours and reporting to the Facilities & Construction Project Manager, you will perform routine janitorial duties, monitor facility conditions, assist with basic maintenance tasks, and make sure facility concerns are communicated and resolved promptly.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive, takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment, and is comfortable working independently and responding to changing facility needs throughout the day. Success looks like facilities that stay clean and presentable, supplies that are always stocked, minor upkeep handled quickly, and issues flagged before they become larger problems, so the Facilities & Construction Project Manager can focus on larger projects and operational improvements.

Responsibilities

Daily Cleaning & Janitorial Services

  • Clean and maintain offices, common areas, hallways, break rooms, restrooms, and other designated spaces
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and other surfaces; clean interior glass, doors, and windows as needed
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, break areas, counters, sinks, and frequently touched surfaces
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and transport waste to designated collection areas
  • Replenish restroom supplies, paper products, soap, and other cleaning materials
  • Respond promptly to spills, messes, and unexpected cleaning needs, and perform routine deep-cleaning tasks according to established schedules

Facility Upkeep & Basic Maintenance

  • Conduct routine walkthroughs to identify cleanliness issues, damaged fixtures, leaks, lighting problems, and other facility concerns
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening loose hardware, and assembling furniture, within your training, authorization, and qualifications
  • Report plumbing, electrical, HVAC, structural, safety, and equipment issues to the Facilities & Construction Project Manager
  • Help maintain organized storage areas, supply rooms, janitorial closets, and workspaces
  • Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms, and preparing spaces for meetings and company events
  • Keep entrances, walkways, and common areas clean, clear, and safe

Daily Facility Support

  • Follow a consistent daily cleaning and facility upkeep checklist, and document completed tasks
  • Respond to cleaning and upkeep requests assigned by the Facilities & Construction Project Manager, and report completed work and outstanding issues through the company’s designated communication or work order system
  • Assist with routine facility inspections and support preparation for visitors, meetings, and inspections
  • Assist with deliveries, supply organization, and other reasonable facility-related duties as assigned
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful presence around employees, visitors, and contractors

Supplies, Equipment & Safety

  • Monitor janitorial supplies and notify the manager when materials need to be replenished
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and report damaged or malfunctioning tools
  • Use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment according to product instructions and safety procedures
  • Store cleaning supplies securely and follow established workplace safety, sanitation, and waste disposal procedures
  • Promptly report hazards, spills, damaged equipment, or other conditions that could create a safety risk
  • Never undertake electrical, plumbing, construction, or other specialized repairs without appropriate training and authorization

Accountability & Communication

  • Arrive on time and consistently complete assigned daily responsibilities
  • Communicate facility issues, supply needs, and maintenance concerns to the Facilities & Construction Project Manager
  • Take initiative to address visible cleanliness and upkeep issues without waiting for direction
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect employees’ personal belongings, workspaces, and company property

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently
  • Ability to follow checklists, procedures, and instructions
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning products, sanitation procedures, and cleaning equipment
  • Ability to identify and report maintenance concerns
  • Professional communication and a positive, service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to safely perform the physical duties of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving cleaning supplies, with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Previous janitorial, commercial cleaning, custodial, or facility maintenance experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment requiring a resourceful approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes

Additional Requirements

  • Monday through Friday, during daytime working hours as established by the company
  • Occasional schedule adjustments may be needed to accommodate facility needs or special projects, with appropriate notice where practicable

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
