We’re looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to join our Chicago-based Quality team. This role works in an office environment, traveling approximately 10% throughout the year.

The QA Specialist is responsible for maintaining and implementing effective quality programs and procedures to ensure compliance with industry quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Additionally, they will participate in audits of both manufacturers and suppliers to ensure compliance. Finally, the QA Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the Quality Documentation System, preparing documents, and collecting, inspecting, and reviewing Raw Materials and Finished Products testing with regard to food safety.

The Deets:

  • Maintain various Quality programs and track, trend, and report program metrics
  • Audit Supplier/Vendor documentation and facilities for compliance to Quality Standards
  • Review customer complaints and initiate root cause investigations
  • Review Certificates of Analysis and manage product release

Requirements

  • BS / BA Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field(s) required
  • Minimum 1-3 years of related experience conducting or participating in 2nd and 3rd party audits
  • Experience working in Food or Dietary Supplement manufacturing
  • Experience with Supplier/ Vendor documentation
  • Knowledge of HACCP and GFSI schemes (SQF, BRC, FSSC)
  • Great communication and investigative skills
  • Able to work independently with little oversight concerning routine tasks
  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and HACCP certification preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Work is performed in-office, Monday - Thursday, remote on Friday.
  • Willing to travel 10% of the time

Salary range: $70,000 - 75,000, depending on experience
