Job Description:

This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Automates manual release activities
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Develop and support event-driven applications using Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, message processing, error handling, and integration with downstream systems.
  • Analyze and optimize SQL queries and application-to-database interactions to improve overall application performance.
  • Develop applications with a strong focus on performance, scalability, resiliency, availability, and fault tolerance.
  • Troubleshoot complex application and production issues across the application, messaging, and database layers and perform effective root-cause analysis.
  • Write clean, reusable, well-tested code using appropriate unit, integration, and automated testing practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture reviews, providing recommendations on implementation approaches.
  • Work closely with product owners, business analysts, architects, QA engineers, infrastructure teams, and other developers to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in programming language(s) required for the role
  • Strong hands-on software development experience using Java, with solid knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
  • Strong experience developing Spring Boot applications, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar event-driven messaging technologies, including producers, consumers, and message processing.
  • Strong experience working with SQL databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries and integrating databases with Java applications.
  • Experience designing and developing scalable, reliable, and highly available backend applications.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful services, distributed systems, and service-to-service integration.
  • Experience with multithreading, concurrency, exception handling, and performance considerations in Java applications.
  • Experience with automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, build tools, and standard software development practices.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience developing or supporting low-latency, high-throughput, or real-time processing systems.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Java/Spring Boot applications.
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing JVM, memory, threading, database, and messaging performance.
  • Experience working with high-volume transactional or event-driven applications.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring, observability, logging, and performance-analysis tools.
  • Experience designing applications for resiliency, fault tolerance, recovery, and high availability.

Pay range

$102,900.00 - $179,900.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
