Our client, a global manufacturer of advanced electronic connectivity and interconnect solutions, is seeking a Senior Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to serve as a key technical interface between customers and internal engineering teams.

This is an engineering-first, customer-facing role with a strong commercial focus. The Senior FAE will work closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to understand customer requirements, develop technical solutions, support new product introductions, and drive design wins from concept through production.

The ideal candidate is a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who combines strong technical expertise with excellent customer-facing skills and enjoys translating complex engineering requirements into practical solutions and new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned customer accounts, developing relationships with engineering, purchasing, and program management teams.
  • Partner with Sales to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Drive technical design wins by understanding customer applications and recommending appropriate connector and interconnect solutions.
  • Support customers throughout the full product development lifecycle, from concept and design through qualification, validation, and production.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Manufacturing teams to develop customized solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Conduct customer visits, technical presentations, product demonstrations, and design reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance on connectors, cable assemblies, and interconnect products, including product selection, application support, and design optimization.
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and mechanical designs using CAD tools such as Creo or SolidWorks.
  • Influence customer design decisions by communicating technical advantages and application-specific solutions.
  • Support new product introductions and communicate market and customer feedback to internal product development teams.
  • Monitor competitive technologies, industry trends, and emerging customer requirements to identify growth opportunities.
  • Travel regularly to customer locations and other company engineering or manufacturing sites as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Field Applications Engineering, Applications Engineering, Design Engineering, Technical Sales Engineering, or another customer-facing engineering role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of connectors, interconnect systems, cable assemblies, or related electromechanical products.
  • Experience supporting customers through product design, qualification, validation, and production.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Manufacturing organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering background strongly preferred.
  • Experience within the connector, interconnect, high-speed connectivity, or electromechanical components industry.
  • Experience working directly with OEMs, EMS providers, data center, networking, consumer electronics, or industrial customers.
  • Experience supporting engineering qualification, validation testing, and customer approval processes.
  • Demonstrated success supporting technical sales initiatives and securing design wins.
  • Experience working in or with leading connectivity manufacturers such as Molex, TE Connectivity, Samtec, Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT), or similar organizations.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is:

  • An engineer first who enjoys working directly with customers.
  • Technically strong in connectors, interconnects, or related electromechanical products.
  • Comfortable engaging with customer engineering teams as well as purchasing, program management, and business stakeholders.
  • Outgoing, personable, and confident in technical customer-facing environments.
  • Able to identify customer challenges and translate them into engineering solutions and commercial opportunities.
  • Experienced in influencing technical decisions throughout the customer design cycle.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable managing customer relationships with significant independence.

Preferred Industry Background

Relevant experience may include:

  • Connector and interconnect solutions
  • High-speed connectivity
  • Cable assemblies
  • Electrical and electronic components
  • Electromechanical products
  • Server, storage, networking, or data center hardware

Candidates from adjacent industries may also be considered if they have significant hands-on experience with connectors/interconnects, engineering specifications, product development, customer qualification, validation, and design approval processes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
