Are you a newly or recently qualified accountant ready to take on greater responsibility and broaden your commercial finance experience?

FutureLearn is looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of key areas of our finance function, from month-end and management reporting to budgeting, tax, international accounting and finance transformation.

About the Role

As Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting while providing meaningful insight to stakeholders across the business.

You’ll take ownership of month-end, support budgeting and forecasting, work with our international entities and contribute to projects focused on systems, automation and improving how Finance operates.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Own the month-end close, management accounts, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage and review work completed by our offshore finance team.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and support the external audit.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and processes.
  • Produce monthly KPI and management reporting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
  • Support intercompany accounting and international entity consolidation.
  • Assist with VAT, corporation tax and international tax matters.
  • Partner with stakeholders to provide financial insight.
  • Support systems improvements, automation, AI initiatives and other finance projects.

About You

We are looking for an ambitious finance professional ready to build on their technical accounting experience.

Essential Requirements

  • Newly or recently qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or UK GAAP.
  • Good understanding of month-end, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills.
  • Experience reviewing junior team members' work and improving processes.
  • Confidence communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Proactive, curious and keen to continue developing.

Desirable

  • Experience with Xero and/or AI-enabled finance solutions.
  • Knowledge of VAT, corporation tax or international tax.
  • Experience within tech, edtech or a fast-growing business.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or intercompany accounting.
  • Experience working with junior team members and supporting them when required.
