What you Will Do:

Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) is a dynamic Systems Engineering organization focused on development and certification of commercial, military, and industrial gas turbine engines. EDSI is responsible for overall engine system definition including thermodynamic cycle and architecture, system structural design, requirements management, air vehicle systems integration, and certification. The EDSI Propulsion Systems Analysis (PSA) organization has specific responsibility for engine performance, operability, system modeling, validation, certification, production & aftermarket support, and active fleet support.

EDSI is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, and results driven PSA Engineer to support development of the Geared Turbofan PW1100G-JM and PW1100G-2-JM engine program - the most advanced propulsion system for the Airbus A320NEO/A321NEO commercial jetliner. Strong technical and communication skills are required to drive product improvements, manage safety items to resolution, and to delight our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt data review & recommendation to CTS (Customer Technical Support) when an event occurs. Integration with ED&L, ASDI, Lube Systems, & CIPTs will be required for certain events.
  • Create & present technical review content of Field Events and studies to customers, CTS, SIPT, and executive leadership.
  • Ensure smooth Entry Into Service (EIS) for the GTF-Advantage engines. Review initial data trending against the currently fielded Base population. Support Development Test actions driven by Field learning.
  • Put safety and customer first – resolve AOG cases with urgency while never conceding on the safety or our product. Support EPI and CIPTs in Potential Hazards and Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Support Production, Aftermarket and Fielded engine performance with a focus on the following areas: performance trending, statistical process control, limit exceedance and quality assurance dispositions, effectivity of overhaul work scope via gas generator component analysis, deterioration modeling and trend shift diagnosis via gas generator component analysis.
  • Conduct system trade studies to optimize the engine thermodynamic cycle for performance, durability, time on wing, operability, and other system metrics.
  • Plan and execute engine validation testing for Test-As-Received assets from the Field and Development testing for product upgrades.
  • Integrate activities of the systems organization with component groups, partners, operators, CTS, and production and aftermarket sites
  • Identify and drive strategic transformation of tools and processes.
  • Develop talent and engineering proficiency by mentoring and training peers.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 8+ years of experience in a technical assignment within an Aerospace Engineering organization, AND/OR an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience in a technical assignment within an Aerospace

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Competent in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: thermodynamics and engine performance, aerodynamics, heat transfer & secondary flow, statistics, functional integration, validation testing and software design.
  • Practical experience with commercial engine certification and revenue service support.
  • Proficiency in Data Analytics Tools & Methods.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, Matlab, NPSS or equivalent.
  • Project Management experience.

The EDSI Commercial Engines and Military Engines organizations are focused on delivering systems solutions to meet customer requirements, driving engineering quality and productivity, and developing the next generation of systems engineers.​​ EDSI is responsible for the integration of components, modules, and sub-systems into world class commercial and military propulsion systems.​​

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
