Collins Aerospace is hiring a Manager of Quality Engineering in our Wilson, NC location to support our Fire Protection Business. This position manages the execution of the Quality Assurance operational plan. In this role, you will lead a team of primarily experienced Quality Engineering professionals or a team responsible for Quality Assurance. You will set tactical and operational plans in support of continuous quality improvement and provide guidance on the implementation of Quality Assurance plans and procedures. You will interact with different internal stakeholders from the site and offshore sites coordinating quality improvements, which are later reported to top management.
What You Will Do:
- Coach and mentor team with skills development, strategy & critical decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with direct reports, peers and leadership to develop a culture of Quality within organization and within site.
- Cross Functional Collaboration within Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Quality, Engineering, and Program Office/Value Stream Leader is essential for success
- Directs production process analyses, ensuring quality standards are met and makes recommendations for quality improvement.
- Oversee, facilitate, develop and manage plans, guidelines, policies, and processes, to ensure the achievement of quality targets.
- Leads implementation of organization projects and processes to ensure overall quality is continuously improving through site ZERO/Pro Active Quality plans and initiatives.
- Oversee quality improvement processes to ensure on-going reductions in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and escapes.
- Manage teams collecting and analyzing quality information from multiple sources to develop long-term quality strategy and programs.
- Manage teams providing production process support, ensuring quality standards are met and making recommendations for quality improvement.
- Develop and manage processes, standards, and plans for the implementation of minimum standards and utilization of tools and methods to ensure effectiveness of existing quality processes and sustainment of quality performance improvements.
- Interface with customer counterparts to resolve issues, address customer concerns and create Quality improvement plans.
- Standard Work: Create and implement standard work procedures for key quality processes. Ensure consistent application of quality controls and best practices across the site.
- Quality Metrics and Reporting: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality. Prepare and present performance trends to senior management and other stakeholders, highlighting areas of concern and improvement opportunities.
- Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA): Responsible for effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities for systemic issues and to ensure extensive RCCA. Lead investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and other departments to identify and resolve quality issues. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability.
- Strategic Initiatives: Lead the execution of quality initiatives and projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with strategic objectives.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Execute quality plans for the successful introduction of new products, including risk assessments, process validations, and first article inspections, to ensure that new products meet all quality and performance criteria before full-scale production.
- Travel time up to 10%
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Proven track record of successfully leading quality initiatives and driving continuous improvement.
- Experience working in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 & AS9100.
- Experience executing ZDP, CORE or LEAN practices
- SAP experience or similar ERP
- Experience in a manufacturing/aerospace environment

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
