The Hardware Engineering Team provides engineering design and development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. The Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) Department is dedicated to ensuring that every product we develop is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind. By integrating principles of manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management, we aim to achieve production excellence while meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability.

The Producibility and Dimensional Management (P&DM) section within the CPR department is seeking an entry level Producibility/Manufacturing Engineer, located onsite in Tucson AZ. In this role, you will support the design, development, and transition-to-production of complex defense and aerospace products. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure designs are optimized for robust, cost-effective, and high-yield production.

This position is ideal for early-career engineers who enjoy problem solving, hands-on engineering, and driving improvements in producibility, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle performance.

As a Mechanical Producibility Engineer I, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our designs and products are optimized for manufacturing, assembly, and integration. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess designs for manufacturability, identify risks, and drive improvements that enhance production efficiency and reduce costs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies while gaining valuable experience in engineering and manufacturing processes.

What You Will Do:

  • Partner with design engineering teams to ensure products meet manufacturing, assembly, and integration requirements.
  • Conduct producibility assessments, design reviews, and risk identification early in the product development lifecycle.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure clarity, compliance, and manufacturability.
  • Perform process capability evaluations, tolerance analyses, and manufacturability trade studies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs, improve yield, and streamline fabrication processes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to validate tooling concepts, process flows, and work instructions.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for production issues.
  • Support transition-to-production activities, including pilot/scout lot builds, first article inspections, and supplier engagement.
  • Maintain documentation and data within Engineering and Manufacturing systems.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and models.
  • Experience applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) or Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Internship or co-op experience supporting engineering or manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with basic manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal forming, forging, castings, and assembly.
  • Exposure to GD&T concepts and ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with CAD modeling tools such as Creo.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing data and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What We Offer:

  • Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
