We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Avionics Software Tools Team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this role, you will contribute to the development of tools and technologies that support avionics systems across a range of aircraft programs. You will work with a team of engineers to create solutions that enable avionics test platforms, system integration facilities, and DO-330 qualified tools. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience across the breadth of avionics products and contribute to their development and testing.
What You Will Do:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain software tools used for avionics systems and simulations.
- Collaborate with software and systems engineers to support avionics development teams across various aircraft programs.
- Create and maintain tools for desktop and cloud-based avionics environments, test stands, and flight deck system integration facilities.
- Develop and test software using programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, and Java.
- Operate and utilize software on Linux and Windows 11 platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of solutions for automated testing and continuous integration.
- Support the development of DO-330 qualified tools for avionics configuration and verification.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Experience with one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, C#, Python, or Java.
- Experience working in both Linux and Microsoft Windows 11 environments.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience using software configuration management and DevOps tools such as Git, GitMR, Artifactory, Jama, Grafana, and Docker in cross-platform environments.
- Familiarity with automated testing of software, including unit tests, functional testing, and high-level testing.
- Experience developing tools and infrastructures that support automated builds and continuous integration using languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, and Robot Framework.
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to work in a team and make sound ethical decisions that drive results.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
