About the Role

The Paid Social Media Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, activation, optimization, and management of paid social media campaigns. This role translates client objectives, customer journeys, audience insights, and business goals into effective paid social strategies.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing performance-focused paid social campaigns for commerce, retail, direct-response, or growth-focused clients. This role requires strong platform knowledge, analytical thinking, campaign ownership, and the ability to turn performance data into clear recommendations.

What You’ll Do

Paid Social Activation

  • Plan, build, launch, optimize, and manage paid social campaigns aligned with client objectives and business goals.
  • Develop campaign structures, audience strategies, budget allocations, bidding approaches, placement strategies, and testing plans.
  • Manage campaigns across platforms such as Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, X, and other relevant paid social platforms.
  • Make activation and investment decisions based on audience behavior, campaign performance, client data, and business priorities.
  • Manage performance against metrics such as reach, frequency, impressions, CTR, conversion rate, CPL, CPA, CAC, ROAS, and other client-specific KPIs.
  • Apply a test-and-learn approach across audiences, creative, messaging, placements, bidding strategies, and campaign structures.
  • Oversee the full campaign lifecycle, including setup, trafficking, quality assurance, optimization, troubleshooting, reporting, forecasting, and billing.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, conversion events, pixels, attribution, brand safety, and data quality across campaigns.
  • Support audits of prospective and existing client paid social accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve campaign efficiency, performance, and scale.

Client Service

  • Develop paid social activation plans aligned with each client’s business goals and customer journey.
  • Translate media objectives and strategic recommendations into clear paid social campaign plans.
  • Anticipate client needs and provide proactive, data-informed recommendations.
  • Present campaign performance, analysis, and insights to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Explain platform strategies, investment decisions, results, and optimization recommendations in clear business terms.
  • Build trusted client relationships through responsive communication, reliable execution, and strategic guidance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with strategy, planning, analytics, creative, CX, investment, and account teams to deliver cohesive client solutions.
  • Work closely with media planning teams to manage campaign delivery and provide ongoing optimization recommendations.
  • Coordinate creative requirements, tracking needs, reporting expectations, and campaign timelines across internal and client teams.
  • Contribute paid social expertise to media planning discussions, business reviews, and client presentations.
  • Partner with creative teams to provide recommendations on formats, messaging, audiences, and performance insights.
  • Support and mentor junior team members by sharing platform knowledge, activation standards, and optimization best practices.

Thought Leadership

  • Help establish and refine paid social activation standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Stay current on platform changes, privacy developments, measurement capabilities, creative trends, emerging technologies, and industry developments.
  • Identify new platform capabilities, audience solutions, testing opportunities, and optimization strategies that may improve client outcomes.
  • Contribute to team learning, professional development, and subject-matter expertise.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in paid social activation, performance marketing, digital media, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience planning, launching, optimizing, and reporting on paid social campaigns.
  • Experience working with commerce, retail, e-commerce, direct-response, or growth-focused clients required.
  • Experience with paid social platforms such as Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, or X.
  • Strong understanding of campaign structure, audience strategy, creative testing, bidding, budget allocation, forecasting, optimization, reporting, troubleshooting, and billing.
  • Knowledge of pixels, conversion tracking, attribution, brand safety, fraud prevention, and data-quality standards.
  • Experience analyzing campaign data using tools such as Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Tableau, Skai, or similar platforms. SQL experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate performance data into clear recommendations.
  • Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple campaigns, platforms, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to activation standards.
  • Collaborative approach and experience working effectively across strategy, planning, analytics, creative, CX, and investment teams.
  • Strong knowledge of paid social trends, buying practices, measurement approaches, creative performance, and emerging technologies.

Important Note

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
