Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience with Android application development.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large-scale application design and architecture.
  • Development experience working with Kotlin or Java.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger or Hilt.
  • Experience with build systems and toolchains (Bazel/Blaze, Gradle, KSP, or annotation processing).
  • Experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
  • Interest in AI-assisted and agentic developer tooling.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Canada: $182000 - $186000 (CAD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Android developer infrastructure, including build tooling, frameworks, and libraries used across Google's first-party mobile applications.
  • Partner with product teams cross functionally to identify developer productivity bottlenecks and deliver solutions.
  • Participate in and lead design reviews, review code from other developers, and contribute to documentation and educational content.
  • Triage and resolve product and system issues by analyzing their sources and their impact on service operations and quality.
