Marketing Manager Location: Assumption, IllinoisReports to: VP, Strategy & Customer ExperienceScope: North America Grain business
Overview The Marketing Manager is responsible for building a focused, commercially connected marketing function that helps our businesses grow. This leader will set marketing direction, develop the team, strengthen our brands, and ensure resources are focused on the work that matters most. The role oversees brand, communications, creative services, digital marketing, events, and marketing operations while partnering closely with business leaders, Product Management, Sales, and Pricing. This is not a traditional corporate communications role. It requires someone who understands how marketing supports commercial performance and can connect customer needs, market insight, business priorities, and strong execution. The right person will bring clarity, establish better ways of working, develop people, and raise the standard for how marketing supports the business. Over time, this role may expand into broader collaboration on commercial capabilities such as product positioning, market intelligence, and product pricing. Core Responsibilities
Set the overall marketing strategy and operating priorities in support of business and growth objectives. Lead and develop the marketing team, providing clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and opportunities to build new capabilities. Serve as a trusted marketing advisor to business leaders, helping translate commercial priorities into focused plans and effective execution. Oversee communications, creative services, digital channels, websites, social media, events, campaigns, and other major customer touchpoints. Own dealer and channel communications, ensuring partners receive clear, timely, and coordinated information about products, programs, pricing, and business priorities. Lead the marketing strategy, communication, and execution support for dealer incentive and commercial programs, working with Sales, Pricing, and business leaders to drive participation and measurable results. Own and execute trade shows and industry events as one component of the broader go-to-market strategy, with clear objectives, disciplined investment, and coordinated follow-through before and after each event. Establish clear priorities across the business unit and direct limited resources toward the highest-impact opportunities. Build effective partnerships with Product Management, Sales, Pricing, and other functions to improve go-to-market execution. Strengthen marketing planning, intake, project management, and operating rhythms so work moves with greater speed, clarity, and accountability. Improve the quality and commercial relevance of marketing output, ensuring work is grounded in customer needs, market conditions, and business priorities. Build stronger digital, data, and marketing technology capabilities, including practical use of AI, automation, analytics, CRM, and other tools that improve effectiveness and extend the team’s capacity. Establish meaningful measures of marketing performance and use results to improve priorities, investment decisions, and execution. Manage outside agencies, vendors, budgets, and other marketing resources with appropriate discipline and accountability. Identify gaps in talent, tools, processes, and capabilities, and develop practical plans to address them. Take ownership for moving work forward, resolving competing priorities, and ensuring decisions translate into action.
Marketing Capability and Technology
Modernize the way marketing work is planned, developed, delivered, and measured. Use technology to reduce manual work, shorten cycle times, improve consistency, and enable a small team to deliver greater impact. Build practical capability in areas such as marketing automation, digital customer experience, content management, CRM, analytics, AI-supported workflows, and performance reporting. Ensure technology serves a clear business purpose rather than becoming activity or complexity without value.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field. Approximately 10 or more years of progressive experience in marketing, product marketing, commercial marketing, brand leadership, or a related function. Meaningful experience leading and developing a team. Demonstrated ability to set direction, establish priorities, and lead execution across multiple businesses, brands, or stakeholder groups. Strong commercial judgment and an understanding of how marketing supports customer decisions, sales effectiveness, and business growth. Experience partnering closely with senior business leaders, Product Management, Sales, and other commercial functions. Ability to move between strategic thinking and practical execution without losing focus or momentum. Experience improving marketing processes, operating rhythms, resource allocation, or organizational capability. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex issues and communicate directly. Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through.
Preferred, but Not Required
Experience developing product positioning, value propositions, competitive differentiation, and go-to-market strategies. Experience with product pricing, pricing strategy, value-based pricing, commercial programs, or price realization. Experience in agriculture, industrial equipment, manufacturing, construction, or another complex business-to-business environment. Experience supporting businesses that sell through dealers, distributors, contractors, or other channel partners. Experience managing a portfolio of brands or supporting multiple business units.
