We have an excellent opportunity for an inspirational and enthusiastic Deputy SENDCo to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at Greater Peterborough UTC. The successful candidate would be instrumental in the co-ordination and leadership of inclusion and SEND and of supporting the leadership of pastoral and behaviour through the lens of SEND alongside the Assistant Principal.

The Deputy SENDCo will work alongside the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo to ensure that provisions for students are timely and effective, overseeing APDR cycles, liaising with families, teachers and external agencies to ensure student needs are met. This will be a fulfilling and rewarding role where you will be making a difference to children’s learning and progress.

The opportunity:

  • To enhance specialist skills working alongside dedicated and professional staff in a large and highly successful multi-academy trust
  • Lead and co-ordinate inclusive practise across SEND
  • Through the lens of SEND, support the leadership of pastoral and behaviour provision
  • Assess pupils' needs and identify appropriate intervention programmes, ensuring provision is targeted and impactful.
  • Assist the SENDCO with the process for Exam Arrangements
  • Work collaboratively with staff to co-ordinate support and ensure effective implementation of provision across the school
  • Support children and young people in developing the skills, independence and confidence needed to prepare them for adulthood.
  • Outstanding professional development opportunities for all our staff

The ideal candidate:

  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to lead across SEND, behaviour and pastoral areas according to the needs of the school.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, families, staff and external professionals
  • Vision, passion and confidence to manage and co-ordinate support for children and young people with complex and multiple needs.
  • Can assess need, identify appropriate provision and ensure interventions are responsive, effective and outcome-focused.
  • Has the leadership skills to co-ordinate staff and provision while maintaining a strong focus on inclusion and preparation for adulthood.
  • Can adapt focus depending on the school's priorities and the specific needs of the pupils, whether that is SEND, behaviour, pastoral support, or a combination of all three.
  • Committed to student achievement, with a mind set that all young people can experience success
  • Innovative and inspiring, developing a love and passion for learning in young people.
  • Experience of SEND teaching
  • Thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and other relevant statutory requirements
  • Understanding of the Graduated Approach to responding to SEND (Assess, Plan, Do, Review)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
