Job Requisition #:

035789 Senior Manager, Finance Business Partner – Closures SBU (Open)

Job Description:

Serve as the senior finance business partner to the SBU leader for Greif’s Closures business, shaping and communicating financial performance, strategic priorities and long-term value creation. This is a Senior Manager-level individual contributor role with no direct reports; impact comes through influence, credibility and partnership.

Build a deep understanding of the business’s markets, customers, manufacturing footprint and value drivers. Lead financial analysis, including growth investments, cost and margin initiatives, capital allocation and, where applicable, portfolio and M&A opportunities.

Partner with operations, commercial and supply chain leaders, plant finance and corporate Finance to connect strategy to financial outcomes, translate lean and operational excellence goals into measurable results, and build data-driven narratives around growth, margin, cash generation and shareholder value.

The role requires strong financial acumen, intellectual curiosity, executive presence, a self-directed style that thrives with minimal oversight, and the ability to turn complex information into actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the SBU leader and leadership team, shaping decisions without direct authority, and collaborates with other functions
  • Partners with plant and operations leaders to support lean manufacturing goals – quantifying the financial impact of continuous improvement, waste reduction, productivity and conversion-cost initiatives and tracking results against targets
  • Supports SBU strategy development, including strategic planning, cost optimization, and capital allocation priorities
  • When applicable, supports the business development team in analyzing divestiture, merger and acquisition proposals and conducts due diligence in support of project discussions and decision-making
  • Develops financial models and business cases to evaluate strategic initiatives, capital investments and growth opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field of study
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, business finance or finance business partnering, including direct support of manufacturing operations
  • Demonstrated experience supporting lean manufacturing and operational excellence goals
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and cost accounting (e.g., standard costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis) is a plus

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Problem solver who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment serving many high-profile customers
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; makes sound judgments and moves work forward with incomplete information and shifting priorities
  • Thinks analytically and creatively while maintaining strong financial controls
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and metrics, and how operational improvements translate into financial results
  • Simplifies and models complex business questions, and communicates them clearly, orally and in writing, to influence leadership decisions through fact-based analysis
  • Strong organizational skills; manages multiple competing priorities
  • Self-driven and highly motivated; thrives under a hands-off leadership style, setting priorities and driving work to completion with minimal direction
  • Works effectively both independently and in a hybrid environment, building rapport with non-finance colleagues in a highly collaborative culture
  • Demonstrates leadership and professional maturity, leading through influence with senior business and operations leaders
  • Conducts all work in a confidential, ethical, and professional manner

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
