The posting

Greywright is hiring a Systems Engineer to help build out and improve on integrated autonomous systems as the versatile engineer who goes wherever the team needs them most. You will work across GNC, software, electrical, mechanical, networks, and test to keep autonomous vessels integrated, documented, and working, from the lab to the customer's dock.

You will also be a key point of contact for our customers: supporting demonstrations, training operators, and providing field service support for fielded systems. This role suits an engineer early in their career who wants broad exposure and the chance to grow quickly alongside experienced engineers.

Requirements

What you'll do

  • Support system integration across engineering teams, tracking interfaces, configurations, and dependencies so subsystems come together on schedule.
  • Write and maintain system requirements, interface documents, and verification plans, building on our existing baselines.
  • Jump in wherever the team needs help, from hardware integration and troubleshooting to test support and data analysis.
  • Support customer engagements, including technical meetings, demonstrations, design reviews, and requests for information.
  • Provide field service support for fielded systems, including installation, checkout, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on site.
  • Train customer operators and maintainers, and develop manuals, procedures, and training materials.
  • Capture field issues and customer feedback, and turn them into clear, actionable reports for engineering.
  • Support on-water testing and sea trials with the test team.
  • Maintain configuration management for vehicle hardware and software builds.

What you bring

  • B.S. in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Ocean, or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of engineering experience; recent graduates with strong hands-on project experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Broad technical curiosity, and enough working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software systems to troubleshoot integrated hardware.
  • Clear, professional communication with engineers, operators, and customers.
  • Strong organization and documentation habits.
  • Hands-on attitude and comfort working in the shop, on boats, and at customer sites.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, including field service trips on short notice.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time when needed.
  • This role requires access to ITAR/EAR-controlled data; U.S. person status is required as defined by 22 CFR 120.62.

Nice to have

  • Experience with requirements management or MBSE tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS, Cameo).
  • Field engineering, field service, or customer support experience with complex hardware.
  • Experience supporting DoD or other government customers.
  • Military or maritime operations background.
  • Scripting skills (e.g., Python) for data analysis and automation.
  • Experience with uncrewed or autonomous vehicles.
  • Small-boat handling experience or a USCG license.
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Secret or higher security clearance; an active clearance is not required.

Benefits

  • Meaningful early-stage equity.
  • Great health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Unlimited vacation.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
