With these innovations, Grote has helped millions of people throughout North America and the world benefit from the innovation and design excellence of Grote products.   Position Summary:         As a Metrology and Gage Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring product accuracy, quality, and reliability through precision measurement, gage design, and validation. This position collaborates with Product Design, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering teams to interpret customer requirements, establish GD&T specifications, and support 3D part designs. Responsibilities include utilizing PolyWorks Inspector to analyze measurement data, troubleshoot production issues, develop and improve gage processes, and oversee daily Metrology Lab operations. Additionally, this role supports calibration systems, dimensional inspections, and process capability studies to ensure compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.       Position Duties:             - Collaborate with Product Design Engineering to interpret customer requirements, establish Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, and incorporate requirements into engineering drawings and 3D part designs.                                      - Develop and maintain PolyWorks scan files to support dimensional inspections, product validation, and project requirements.                                      - Perform dimensional layouts, process potential studies, and process capability studies in accordance with established Quality Operating Procedures.                                      - Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Design Engineering teams to analyze measurement results, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure product quality.                                      - Provide technical input on the design and development of nesting fixtures for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other measurement equipment.                                      - Develop comprehensive gage plans, design measurement gages, coordinate procurement, and ensure proper validation and certification.                                      - Identify and implement improvements to gage planning, design, sourcing, validation, and dimensional inspection processes.                                     - Support daily Metrology Lab operations by reviewing technician work, ensuring measurement accuracy, and maintaining compliance with quality standards.                                     - Assist Metrology Technicians with GD&T interpretation, measurement equipment troubleshooting, and prioritizing workflow to meet production and project deadlines.                                     - Collaborate with Quality Assurance leadership, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Auditors to ensure compliance with Grote's Quality Manual, operating procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.       Requirements:               The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, preferred, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in metrology, gage design, or a related field with an applicable degree, or 8 years of experience without a relevant degree. A minimum of 3 years of proficiency with PolyWorks Inspector is required, along with hands-on experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, and pin gages. Experience with PolyWorks DataLoop is a plus. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and experience analyzing measurement data to resolve production issues. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
