Job Role/Summary:

  Responsible to assemble, fit, wire and install parts to form subassemblies or finished products.  This position must be able to proficiently perform all necessary material handling functions and E1 transactions within their assigned area, which may include the following: ship, pack, receive materials, supply and/or move materials within the department or between departments, operate RF devices, and operate motorized or non-motorized material moving equipment (pallet jack, fork lift, walk-behind lift, stand-up lift, etc.).  Employees are expected to be able to behave in a safe manner and safely operate various types of equipment.  Must accomplish quality requirements while meeting the objectives of production.  

 

Job Responsibilities:

  Essential & Secondary Functions:   Safety:

Responsible to follow all safety procedures and practices.

  Quality:

Operate within the quality requirements and production standards. Visually inspect parts and assemblies for cosmetic and functional defects. Complete and document results of first/last article inspections as required including the gaging of products utilizing measuring equipment as required per inspection/control plans. Perform and document all required quality inspections per the assigned frequency.

  Responsibility & Customer-Driven:

Follow Standard Operating Work instructions. Assemble various products. Receive and stock various materials. Key information into PLC controlled equipment as required. Perform cycle counts. Able to run machines and stand for long periods of time. Pick product from production areas or storage bins. Lift and supply parts to workstations or designated areas as needed. Able to operate motorized and non-motorized equipment.  May need to pass certification if necessary. Accomplish package requirements as instructed. Perform or assist with setups of machinery as needed. Operate scanners and/or computers as necessary. Match product numbers to Bill of Material or other documents. Edit and release work orders to production entry into ERP system. Communicate with others to ensure needed material for production is available.

  Integrity:

Record work such as scrap results, control plan checks, routings, production information and other as directed. Maintain 5S and keep work area cleaned/organized. Handle, dispose of, identify, ship and receive hazardous waste materials as needed.

  Respect & Family:

May help with the training of other employees as directed. Identify problems and make appropriate personnel aware.

  Secondary Functions:

Participate in problem solving activities. Participate in Grote Production System (GPS) activities. Make minor adjustments on equipment.

  Other Functions:

Other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education, Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses:

Degree or equivalent experience:

High school diploma is preferred

Two year technical degree in an applicable manufacturing area of study is a plus

  Years of experience:

2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus

  Training in:

  Licenses in:

As required

  Certifications in:

As required Forklift Operation (May be learned after accepting job but must be passed within 60 calendar days of start date in position unless Management agrees to an extension)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  Knowledge in:

Basic Math Electronic assembly as required for the position Metric and U.S. Measurement system

  Skills in:

Hand-Eye coordination Attention to detail Reading blueprints and/or schematics is a plus Basic computer use

  Experience with:

Use of hand tools Operating a forklift or stand up if required for the position Measurement devices Power tools Scanning equipment

Must successfully pass any pre-screening test(s)

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Manufacturing environment Standing and walking for long periods of time Able to work overtime as needed. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. Manual dexterity Environment can be hot or cold depending on outside temperatures Ability to see small numbering/lettering from average distances with safety glasses (Both prescription or non-prescription) Ability to bend and stoop frequently Able to work at various heights

 

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

       Physical:

Climbing Stairs: Ascending or descending stairs to gain access to a building or to move from one floor to another. Light Carrying: Physically transporting general office items/materials from one location to another. Fingering: Typing for extending periods of time, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm. Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time Visual Requirement: Able to see and read PC screens; detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print. Bending and Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

         Mental:

Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.

Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information.

Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology. Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule. Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines. Ability to complete forms, use existing letters and/or conduct oral communication. Ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports and/or to orally communicate technical information. Ability to communicate with individuals utilizing a telephone; requires ability to hear and speak effectively on phone. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, communicating orally with others accurately.
