The Data Architect will provide technical leadership across data modeling, application data architecture, database design, integrations, performance, and data governance. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with the ability to collaborate with solution architects, developers, and client stakeholders to translate complex business and technical requirements into effective data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable data architectures supporting complex enterprise applications and business processes.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including data structures, relationships, schemas, and standards.
  • Design data solutions supporting applications developed on the Appian platform, including Appian data stores, record types, data synchronization, and integration with external data sources.
  • Define how application data is stored, accessed, integrated, and exchanged across Appian and external systems of record.
  • Design and optimize relational database solutions and complex SQL queries to support application functionality and performance.
  • Partner with Appian architects, developers, and integration teams to develop technical designs and resolve complex data and application architecture challenges.
  • Evaluate existing data structures and recommend improvements to scalability, performance, maintainability, and data quality.
  • Design data integrations using APIs, web services, and other enterprise integration patterns.
  • Establish and promote standards for data integrity, security, access controls, metadata, and data governance.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, database, integration, and performance issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Participate in architecture and technical design reviews and ensure solutions align with program and federal technology standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams and serve as a subject matter expert for data architecture and Appian-related data solutions.
  • Collaborate directly with federal client stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate technical options, and communicate architecture recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, application architecture, data architecture, database engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant experience designing data solutions for complex enterprise applications.
  • Strong experience with relational database technologies, SQL, data modeling, database design, and performance optimization.
  • Experience designing integrations between enterprise applications and external data sources using APIs, web services, and other integration technologies.
  • Experience with Appian or a comparable enterprise low-code/BPM/case management platform.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture and the relationship between application design, data architecture, integrations, and system performance.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical and performance issues across applications, databases, and integrations.
  • Ability to translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical and data architecture solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior client leadership.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, conducting design reviews, and mentoring developers or engineers.
  • Experience supporting federal government programs or other large, complex enterprise environments preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain any federal government clearance and/or background investigation required for the assigned client engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep technical experience with the Appian platform, including application architecture, data architecture, record types, data stores, integrations, and platform performance.
  • Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other enterprise relational database technologies.
  • Experience with PL/SQL and complex database development.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
