The posting

Description

GSS Tech Group is hiring a Senior Technology Engineer for a leading bank in the UAE. You will join the bank’s CTO Technology Chapter and own the product engineering lifecycle for a standard stack of consumable infrastructure products, with Linux as your core strength.

The bank runs a matrix structure. You will report into the Head of Technology Chapter for line management and work with the Compute Technology Platform squad for day to day priorities. You will lead the squad’s deliveries across design, development, implementation, standardization, automation and capacity planning.

This role suits a T shaped engineer: deep in Linux, and able to move across virtualization, containers, automation, CI/CD and public cloud as projects need.

What you will do

Technology Engineering

  • Design, build and standardize Linux based infrastructure products (RHEL, OLVM, OpenShift) for enterprise consumption
  • Automate deployment and configuration management with Ansible, Jenkins and Terraform so environments stay consistent and scalable
  • Engineer and run virtualization platforms built on KVM, Libvirt, oVirt and OpenShift Virtualization
  • Own OS compliance and hardening standards, working with the Security Chapter
  • Manage patching, repository and artifact lifecycles with Red Hat Satellite, Spacewalk and Nexus
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues with development and operations teams, for BAU and major incidents
  • Keep communication clear and transparent with internal teams and stakeholders

Delivery

  • Take projects from inception to production delivery
  • Cover both engineering delivery and operational support under DevOps and SRE ways of working
  • Apply DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure as Code and 12 Factor application principles
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and deliver under pressure in a regulated banking environment
  • Help meet annual targets for technology stack reduction and lower platform TCO

Stakeholder Management

  • Build trusted relationships with the Technical Platforms, Security and application teams
  • Take part in design forums and keep deliverables consistent across the wider infrastructure team
  • Model and promote the bank’s values within the squad

Requirements

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years in infrastructure engineering, systems administration or operations, including 3+ years in a similar senior engineering role
  • Deep Linux internals knowledge, ideally RHEL; exposure to OLVM and OpenShift
  • Strong hands on experience with Ansible, Terraform and Jenkins
  • Solid virtualization experience: KVM, Libvirt, oVirt or OpenShift Virtualization
  • Container platform experience with native Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • CI/CD pipeline experience, including hands on integration work
  • Working knowledge of OS compliance frameworks and hardening (CIS benchmarks or equivalent)
  • Experience with repository and artifact tools: Red Hat Satellite, Spacewalk, Nexus
  • Hands on configuration of compute, storage and networking on Azure, AWS or OCI
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis for BAU and incidents

Desirable

  • Experience in large, complex global enterprises with high availability, high transaction volumes and geographic distribution, ideally banking or financial services
  • Red Hat certifications (RHCE, RHCA, OpenShift) or cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, OCI)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions to senior stakeholders

What makes you a fit

  • Self starter with strong initiative
  • Calm under pressure, pragmatic but focused
  • Keen to learn new technologies

Benefits

  • Long term deployment on a strategic infrastructure modernization program at a leading UAE bank
  • Large scale, high availability enterprise environment
  • Exposure to OpenShift, virtualization modernization and hybrid cloud
  • Competitive compensation aligned to experience

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
