About GSS

GSS Tech Group is a technology staffing and managed workforce partner to leading banks, fintechs and telecom enterprises across the UAE and the wider region. We place senior engineers into the core technology teams of our clients and support them throughout their engagement.

About the role

We are hiring a Senior Technology Engineer to join the Storage & Data Protection engineering team of a leading UAE bank, working from Bangalore within the bank’s CTO Technology Chapter.

This is an engineering role, not an operations role. You will own the product engineering lifecycle for the bank’s storage and data protection platforms: design, build, standardise, automate and plan capacity for a consumable set of infrastructure products used across the bank. You will also play a key part in reducing technology sprawl and lowering total cost of ownership across the storage and backup estate.

You will report into the Technology Chapter and work day to day with the Compute Technology Platform squad, collaborating closely with the Security Chapter and the wider infrastructure teams.

What you will do

  • Design, implement and standardise enterprise storage services across SAN, NAS, object and deduplication backup storage platforms
  • Engineer and operate enterprise data protection platforms such as Veritas NetBackup, Dell Networker and Commvault, including architecture, policy frameworks, retention design, upgrades and lifecycle management
  • Build and validate cyber recovery capabilities, including immutable and air gapped backup copies, isolated recovery environments and regular ransomware recovery testing
  • Lead migrations and consolidation initiatives that reduce the number of platforms and tools in the estate and lower TCO
  • Automate provisioning, configuration and health checks using Infrastructure as Code and scripting
  • Own capacity planning, performance tuning and forecasting for storage and backup platforms
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex BAU issues and major incidents, driving root cause analysis and permanent fixes
  • Ensure platforms meet the bank’s security, OS compliance and regulatory standards, working with the Security Chapter on design reviews
  • Produce clear design documentation (HLD and LLD), runbooks and standards, and communicate transparently with stakeholders across teams

What you will bring

Must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related field
  • 10+ years in infrastructure engineering or operations, with at least 3 years in a senior storage or data protection engineering role
  • Strong hands on experience with enterprise SAN and NAS platforms (for example Dell PowerMax, PowerStore or Unity, NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage, Hitachi VSP, PowerScale or Isilon), including provisioning, replication and FC zoning on Brocade or Cisco MDS
  • Hands on experience with object storage (for example Dell ECS, NetApp StorageGRID, Cloudian or S3 compatible platforms)
  • Hands on experience with deduplication backup storage (for example Dell Data Domain or PowerProtect DD, HPE StoreOnce)
  • Deep, design level expertise in at least one of Veritas NetBackup, Dell Networker or Commvault, with working knowledge of another
  • Practical experience with cyber recovery: immutability, retention lock, air gapped vaults and ransomware recovery testing
  • Strong Linux administration skills, plus solid experience with VMware virtualisation
  • Experience in large, complex, high availability enterprise environments, ideally in banking or financial services

Highly desirable

  • Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, and automation with Ansible, Python or PowerShell, including storage and backup REST APIs
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating infrastructure automation into them
  • Data protection for container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • Configuring storage, compute and networking services on Microsoft Azure, AWS or OCI, including cloud tiering for backup
  • Understanding of DevOps and SRE principles
  • Vendor certifications from Dell, NetApp, Veritas, Commvault, Pure or similar

How you work

  • A self starter who takes ownership from inception to delivery
  • Calm and methodical under pressure
  • Pragmatic, focused and keen to learn new technologies
  • Builds trusted, professional relationships with stakeholders

Why join

  • Work on the core infrastructure of one of the region’s leading banks
  • A genuine engineering remit: design, automation and platform ownership, not ticket handling
  • Exposure to modern data protection and cyber recovery practices at enterprise scale

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
