Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience in Trade Finance, Commercial Finance, Sales Finance, FP&A, RGM, or CPG analytics.
- Experience supporting Sales or other customer-facing commercial organizations, preferably within CPG, food & beverage, or consumer products.
- Demonstrated understanding of trade spend, accruals, deductions, Gross-to-Net, and promotional economics.
- Experience with monthly close, variance analysis, financial or trade reporting, and large data sets.
- Experience with trade promotion management systems and customer deduction processes strongly preferred.
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Trade Finance Analyst who is responsible for the day-to-day management, reporting, and analysis of GTLF’s trade investment. The role partners closely with Sales, Revenue Growth Management (RGM), Commercial Finance, Accounting, Insights, and IT to ensure customer trade programs are accurately planned, approved, captured, reconciled, and evaluated.
This position plays a key role in the monthly close process, trade promotion system administration, deduction and accrual support, and promotional performance analysis. The Senior Trade Finance Analyst also serves as the business super-user for Promo Planner, supporting strong controls, data quality, user adoption, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Trade Management & Monthly Close
- Own trade-related activities within the monthly close calendar, including trade and deduction analysis, variance investigation, and supporting schedules.
- Track trade investment against plan, customer commitments, and established trade targets, identifying material risks, opportunities, and timing items.
- Partner with Accounting and Commercial Finance to align promotional activity, accruals, deductions, and actual spend and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare clear monthly trade reporting and communicate key drivers and required actions to RGM, Sales, and Finance partners.
Promo Planner & Sales Partnership
- Serve as the business super-user and administrator for Promo Planner, including program review, approval rights, user support, and process governance.
- Partner with Sales to ensure promotional programs and customer investments are entered accurately, completely, and on time.
- Maintain controls and compliance with established trade guidelines, approval processes, and documentation requirements.
- Partner with IT on system enhancements, testing, data integrity, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of Promo Planner.
Deductions, Reconciliation & Trade Controls
- Partner with Accounting to reconcile customer deductions to approved programs, trade commitments, and accruals.
- Research discrepancies and coordinate with Sales and Accounting to resolve outstanding deductions, disputes, and documentation gaps.
- Maintain visibility into unresolved and aging items, drive timely follow-up, and identify recurring process issues or root causes.
- Support accurate trade accruals and maintain a clear audit trail from approved customer program through deduction and settlement.
Trade & Promotion Analytics
- Analyze trade investment across customers, brands, SKUs, programs, and investment types, including trade rate and spend efficiency.
- Conduct recurring promotional performance analysis, incorporating volume lift, investment, trade rate, and other measures of effectiveness.
- Support monthly trade reviews and annual customer trade planning with clear historical performance and investment insights.
- Partner with RGM and Insights to identify opportunities to improve promotional effectiveness and trade investment allocation.

Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ownership and follow-through: Drives recurring processes and open issues to resolution with strong attention to accuracy and deadlines.
- Business partnership: Builds strong working relationships across Sales, Accounting, Commercial Finance, RGM, Insights, and IT.
- Analytical rigor: Able to identify drivers, discrepancies, trends, and exceptions within detailed trade and customer data.
- Process discipline: Establishes clear controls, documentation, and repeatable processes while continuously improving efficiency.
- Communication: Translates detailed trade information into concise insights, issues, and actions for business partners.
Functional/Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of trade spend, Gross-to-Net, accruals, deductions, and promotional investment mechanics.
- Experience with trade promotion management or promotional planning systems; system administration experience preferred.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
- Strong data management, reconciliation, and reporting capabilities.
- Familiarity with syndicated data such as SPINS or Nielsen is beneficial but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Analytics, or a related field required.
