What You Will Do:
The Software Engineer supports NGA's mission by working as part of an applications development and maintenance team. The SWE will design and implement business process modernizations and develop tailored Knowledge Management (KM) tools and cloud-based applications. The role leads requirements gathering, user engagement, and delivery of KM needs while briefing KM tools and processes to other NGA elements to identify efficiencies. Responsibilities include conducting business process reviews, software testing, workforce training, and website content management, as well as analyzing systems and recommending technical process improvements. The SWE develops, documents, tests, and debugs applications requiring low‑level control processing for electronics, including embedded software for real-time operating systems, networking, and radio systems. Additional duties include preparing operating instructions, designing compilers, assemblers, and utility programs, improving user interface features with desk officers, compiling and analyzing development issues, and collaborating with leadership on communication plans for new or enhanced KM solutions. The role also maintains awareness of NGA-wide KM tools to incorporate relevant capabilities into current processes. The SWE will be part of Guidehouse's Technology horizontal with reach back to firm cutting-edge capabilities and connectivity to AI, Data, and Cloud/App teams while focusing day-to-day on NGA support.
What You Will Need:
- ACTIVE TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI polygraph within 30 days of starting
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum EIGHT (8) years of professional experience
- Demonstrated experience using Red Hat Open Shift including deploying applications.
- Significant hands-on programming and scripting experience in Python.
- Hands-on programming and scripting experience for network automation.
- Demonstrated experience in using web-based technologies such as browsers, Coldfusion, ASP pages, HTML code, object-oriented technology, graphics software, and content management systems.
- Experience operating in a CI/CD/DevOps/Agile fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience applying knowledge management, business intelligence, process improvement, reengineering methodologies or best practice principles to design and implement process modernization and improvements.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and leading activities of engineers/specialists related to technology needs.
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing user interface features, such as site animation and special effects elements, and maintaining associated systems for agency internal and/or external web sites, including sites hosted on classified networks.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Demonstrated experience with Enterprise software requirements specification and management.
- Demonstrated experience with Agile software development processes and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience with software quality processes, such as CMMI, and with configuration/change management systems.
- Experience in software integration, defect management, and remediation, including use of integrated development environments (IDE). Experience developing software test and testautomation suites.
- Experience with Security Development Operations (SecDevOps).
- Demonstrated experience with Imagery Disclosure Tool (IDT), Request Action Tracker (RAT), or SharePoint custom workflows.
