Job Title:

Global Gas & Power Business Manager

Contract Type:

Time Type:

Job Description:

The Global Gas & Power Business Manager supports the Global Head of Gas & Power in the leadership, coordination and execution of the global business strategy.

The role acts as a central point of coordination across regional trading and origination desks, ensuring that priorities are aligned, decisions are translated into action, and the global platform operates with consistent governance, transparency and execution discipline.

The position is global rather than desk-specific. It partners closely with Regional Heads of Desk and multiple stakeholders to connect commercial objectives with risk, capital, operational and functional requirements, while preserving clear regional ownership and accountability.

Main Responsibilities

1. Global strategy and business planning

  • Support the Global Head of Gas & Power in defining, communicating and executing the global strategy, priorities and annual business plan.
  • Coordinate inputs from regional desks and functional partners to create a consolidated global view of opportunities, constraints, resource needs and performance.
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear workstreams, milestones, owners and decision points, and track delivery across regions.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for leadership reviews, strategy sessions, budget discussions and executive committees.

2. Regional desk coordination

  • Act as a trusted partner to Regional Heads of Desk, helping align local commercial plans with the global Gas & Power strategy.
  • Facilitate collaboration across regional power, gas and related origination activities where relevant.
  • Identify cross-regional synergies, overlaps, dependencies and potential conflicts, and ensure timely escalation and resolution.
  • Promote consistent ways of working while recognizing differences in regional markets, regulatory frameworks and commercial mandates.

3. Performance, capital and risk oversight

  • Maintain a consolidated view of business performance, including P&L, risk deployment, capital usage, return metrics and key operating indicators.
  • Coordinate regular performance reviews with Regional Heads of Desk and relevant control functions, highlighting trends, exceptions and required management actions.
  • Support portfolio and capital allocation discussions by providing transparent, comparable analysis across desks and regions.
  • Ensure that agreed actions arising from risk, performance or governance forums are documented, owned and completed.

4. Cross-functional stakeholder management

  • Coordinate the interface between the commercial business and Risk, Finance, Operations, Legal, Compliance, IT, Data, HR and other corporate functions.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand commercial priorities, market context and timing, while ensuring the business addresses control and delivery requirements.
  • Help prioritize technology, data and operational initiatives based on global business value, risk reduction and scalability.
  • Support issue resolution on matters that span multiple desks, regions or functions and therefore require central coordination.

5. Change and strategic initiatives

  • Lead or coordinate global initiatives such as new market entry, platform development, process improvement, organizational changes and integration projects.
  • Create practical implementation plans and ensure appropriate engagement from regional and functional stakeholders.
  • Monitor delivery risks, interdependencies and resource constraints, escalating material issues to the Global Head of Gas & Power.
  • Promote standardization and efficiency where it improves control, speed or scalability.

Experience and capabilities

  • Strong understanding of global pipeline gas and power markets, trading, origination and the commercial drivers of a multi-regional portfolio.
  • Proven ability to operate across regions and influence senior stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to connect P&L, risk, capital, operational and strategic considerations.
  • Highly organized and execution-oriented, able to manage several priorities and drive closure of complex cross-functional actions.
  • Clear, concise communication and strong judgement, including the ability to identify what requires escalation and what can be resolved directly.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced trading environment with sensitive information, changing priorities and firm deadlines.

Measures of success

  • Global priorities are understood, owned and delivered across regional desks.
  • The Global Head of Gas & Power has timely, decision-ready information and clear visibility on performance, risk and delivery.
  • Regional Heads of Desk experience effective central support without unnecessary duplication or bureaucracy.
  • Cross-regional and cross-functional issues are identified early, assigned clearly and resolved promptly.
  • Governance forums lead to clear decisions, accountability and measurable follow-through.
  • Global initiatives deliver their intended commercial, control or efficiency outcomes.

Profile

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience within energy or commodity trading, with a strong commercial background and deep understanding of global gas and power markets, trading, origination and portfolio management.
  • Proven track record in senior business management, commercial strategy or business development within a complex, multi-regional trading environment.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with a solid understanding of trading P&L, risk management, capital allocation, portfolio performance and key value drivers.
  • Ability to assess commercial opportunities, challenge business assumptions and contribute to strategic decisions across trading desks and regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior trading leadership, influence key stakeholders and drive alignment across commercial and corporate functions.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate commercial priorities into actionable business plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to operate at senior management level.
  • Highly organized, commercially driven and execution-oriented, with a proactive, pragmatic approach and strong sense of ownership.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment, managing competing priorities and sensitive commercial information.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
