The posting
Location: Astoria, NY Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) are classes and activities offered to high school students with disabilities to help them prepare for employment and find work. Our program focuses on five key areas:
Self-Advocacy – Learning how to speak up for yourself, understand your rights, make informed decisions, and take an active role in planning your future. Work Readiness – Building the skills needed to succeed in the workplace, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism. Job Exploration – Learning about different careers and identifying occupations that match a student's interests, strengths, and abilities. Postsecondary Options – Exploring education, vocational training, apprenticeships, and other opportunities available after high school. Work Based Learning Experiences - Developing community-based, short term (160 - 320 hours), paid work experiences to act as job sampling for transitioning students.
The goal of our Pre-ETS program is to help students take an active role in planning their futures. We support students in identifying their strengths, interests, and abilities so they can make informed choices and successfully transition into further education, training, or meaningful long-term employment. The YST Supervisor is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with schools and ACCES-VR, coordinating and facilitating Pre-ETS classes and WBLE opportunities, supervising and training program staff, overseeing program implementation, and ensuring that students receive high-quality services that meet ACCES-VR and program standards.
