The posting

Position Purpose

The primary function of this position is to perform shipping, receiving, picking, packing, inventory control, and material handling activities to support warehouse and distribution operations. This role ensures the accurate and timely processing of tools, merchandise, parts, and related materials while maintaining inventory accuracy, safety compliance, operational efficiency, and customer service standards. The position supports shipping and receiving schedules through proper documentation, inventory management, and adherence to established warehouse procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming shipments, inventory, tools, merchandise, and parts.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare customer, distributor, and internal orders for shipment in accordance with quality and shipping standards.
  • Verify shipment accuracy, completeness, labeling, and packaging requirements.
  • Process shipping documents including packing slips, bills of lading, invoices, shipping records, and related documentation.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and freight in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.
  • Process stock movements and shipments following established logistics and warehouse processes.
  • Perform inventory control activities, including cycle counts, inventory audits, location verification, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain forklift certification and operate equipment according to company policies and safety requirements.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems, company software, and computer applications to track inventory and process transactions.
  • Maintain shipping, receiving, inventory, and operational logs and reports as assigned.
  • Move products and materials between shipping, receiving, storage, and work areas.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and warehouse operating requirements.
  • Communicate inventory discrepancies, shipment issues, and operational concerns to warehouse leadership.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
  • Support warehouse, distribution, inventory, and logistics operations as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

Reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Requirements:

No regular travel required. Occasional travel may be required for training or business-related activities.

Working Conditions:

Works primarily in a warehouse and distribution environment. The position is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. Employees may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions and potential electrical hazards. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud and may require the use of personal protective equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • More than one year of warehouse, shipping, receiving, distribution, logistics, inventory, or related experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, shipping documentation, inventory records, and other job-related materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and business partners as required to perform job duties safely and accurately.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain routine records, documentation, and correspondence.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and units of measure.
  • Ability to solve routine operational problems and make sound decisions within established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to operate warehouse systems and computer applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing operational requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Forklift certification.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Experience with shipping carriers, freight processing, and warehouse management systems.
  • Experience with inventory control, cycle counts, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial warehouse environments.
  • Experience participating in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement programs.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education:

Technical, vocational, logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain training preferred.

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

More than one year of related warehouse, shipping, receiving, logistics, inventory, or distribution experience.

Certifications:

  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification as required.
