Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Facility Technical Manager is a senior engineering leader responsible for the site's technical, process engineering, quality, and laboratory functions. This role leads the Process Engineering and Quality & Laboratory teams and partners with Operations, R&D, and Regional Quality in a highly regulated aerospace environment.

This position will help launch the facility, including laboratory startup, product transfer, and qualification. Travel to other H.B. Fuller sites is required approximately one week per month for the first six months, after which the role will be fully based in Charlotte.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Site Startup Leadership

  • Lead the site technical department, including process engineering, quality, and laboratory staff, and build a strong technical bench.
  • Lead process, laboratory, and equipment readiness, method transfer, and qualification for production startup and transferred products.
  • Oversee testing and release of raw materials, intermediates, bulk, and finished products.

PMF & Product Quality

  • Establish quality controls for PMF products, including freezer monitoring, temperature excursions, shelf life, and cold-chain shipping.
  • Ensure lot traceability from raw materials through syringe, cartridge, kit, and finished goods.
  • Lead material disposition and nonconformance decisions, escalating to R&D or Regional Quality as needed.

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Lead the site ISO 9001, AS9100, and applicable Nadcap quality systems, including document and change control.
  • Lead internal, customer, and certification audits, and support product qualifications and customer approvals.
  • Maintain quality records, specifications, batch tickets, and laboratory procedures.

Continuous Improvement & Technical Leadership

  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions using 8D, SPC, FMEA, and related tools.
  • Track and reduce cost of poor quality, and report on key quality metrics.
  • Direct process engineering efforts in scale-up, process validation, and capability improvement, and partner with R&D on new product introduction.
  • Serve as the primary product quality contact for customers, sales, and customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required; Chemical Engineering strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of engineering, technical, or quality experience in aerospace, chemical, adhesive, or sealant manufacturing.
  • 5+ years leading engineering, quality, or laboratory teams.
  • Experience working within an AS9100 quality system in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
  • Proven record leading process validation, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and customer or certification audits.
  • Ability to travel approximately one week per month for the first six months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with aerospace sealants, polysulfide, epoxy, or two-component adhesive systems.
  • Experience with pre-mixed & frozen syringe or cartridge filling, or temperature-controlled products.
  • Nadcap experience and new site startup or product transfer experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, ASQ CQE, or Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • SAP experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
