Houseperson

At MCHG, our Houseperson Associates play a vital role in creating a clean, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of public spaces, guest corridors, service areas, and other hotel facilities while delivering friendly, professional service. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, enjoys being active, and is committed to supporting both guests and fellow team members.

This position reports directly to the Executive Housekeeper and works closely with hotel leadership to ensure exceptional standards of cleanliness, safety, and hospitality are maintained throughout the property.

Key Responsibilities

Guest & Public Area Care

  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all public areas, guest corridors, entrances, restrooms, stairwells, elevators, and service areas.
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, polish, and sanitize assigned areas according to hotel standards.
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and other public-facing spaces.
  • Restock public restroom supplies and ensure facilities remain clean and guest-ready throughout each shift.

Property Maintenance & Support

  • Remove trash, recycling, and discarded materials from guest and service areas.
  • Deliver guest-requested items such as cribs, rollaway beds, and other amenities.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe housekeeping storage rooms, linen closets, laundry areas, and supply spaces.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, lost-and-found items, and guest service issues promptly.

Teamwork & Guest Service

  • Assist housekeeping team members with room cleaning and other operational needs as requested.
  • Respond professionally and courteously to guest questions, requests, and concerns.
  • Support hotel operations by working collaboratively with all departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Represent MCHG with professionalism and positivity at all times.

Position Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as business demands require.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and operational standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, push, pull, and climb.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to carry up to 35 pounds over moderate distances.
  • Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and housekeeping-related tasks throughout the shift.
