The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Grants Research Associate based in the United States.

Join a research and advisory environment where your work helps higher education institutions identify funding opportunities and advance important academic and research initiatives. As a Grants Research Associate, you will conduct prospect research, evaluate public and private funding programs, and identify opportunities aligned with client priorities. You will work closely with Grants Consultants and Content Directors to understand institutional goals and deliver high-quality, client-ready research. Your work may also contribute to grant proposals through literature reviews, needs assessments, and research into effective practices. This role combines analytical research, clear writing, and practical problem-solving in a deadline-driven, collaborative environment. It is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented researcher and writer interested in higher education, scientific research, public health, and fundraising strategy.

Accountabilities:

  • Research and identify public and private funding opportunities that align with clients' institutional priorities, research programs, and project needs.
  • Assess the suitability of funding programs by reviewing eligibility criteria, objectives, requirements, and alignment with client initiatives.
  • Prepare prospecting reports and other research deliverables while managing multiple assignments and tight deadlines.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of clients' needs and the programmatic or research-related goals behind each project.
  • Independently produce accurate, polished, client-ready deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with Grants Consultants and Content Directors to refine project scope, clarify research objectives, and ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Contribute to proposal development through best-practice research, literature reviews, needs assessments, and related content.
  • Identify efficient and creative approaches to research, content preparation, and client delivery.
  • Communicate research findings clearly and professionally, representing the research team in discussions with colleagues and clients.
  • Provide constructive feedback and collaborate with colleagues to maintain the quality and accuracy of research outputs.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a liberal arts-related discipline preferred; candidates with other degrees and relevant professional experience will also be considered.
  • Approximately 2–3 years of experience as a writer and/or editor, preferably with practical exposure to grant writing or fundraising processes.
  • Experience writing and conducting research for academic audiences.
  • Prior experience with sponsored research is preferred.
  • Strong English-language writing, editing, communication, and fact-checking skills.
  • Genuine interest in prospect research, fundraising strategy, grant writing, and the academic or mission-driven organizations served.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work with minimal guidance.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, professional initiative, and a reliable work ethic.
  • Proven academic achievement.
  • Ability to both receive and provide constructive feedback.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI is an advantage but is not required.
  • Annual base salary range of $49,812–$55,000 USD, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Starting paid time off of 18 or more days.
  • 14 paid holidays, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Juneteenth, Indigenous Peoples' Day, and personal holidays.
  • Employer matching through a 401(k) retirement savings program.
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits.
  • Health and wellness programs, including discounts at local gyms.
  • Opportunities to participate in community service activities.
  • Office snacks and beverages, where applicable.
  • Remote work opportunity within the United States.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
