We’re looking for a Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics to join our Theatre team at The Portland Hospital. As the only private hospital in the UK dedicated entirely to the healthcare of women and children, The Portland Hospital offers a highly specialised environment where colleagues can develop expertise across paediatric, maternity and women’s health services.

With more than 46 paediatric beds, a dedicated Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, neonatal intensive care services and over 175 paediatric consultants, you’ll be part of a hospital that cares for more than 40,000 children each year while also supporting one of the UK’s leading private maternity services. As a Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics in our Theatre Department, you’ll work alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team supporting a broad range of surgical specialities, including paediatric surgery, gynaecology, obstetrics and general surgery. Our five fully integrated theatres are equipped with advanced technology, creating an environment where you can continue to build your clinical expertise while delivering exceptional patient care.

This role offers the opportunity to further develop your anaesthetic skills within paediatrics, supported by experienced colleagues who are passionate about learning and professional growth. You’ll play a vital role throughout the perioperative pathway, ensuring every patient receives safe, compassionate and personalised care. With a varied shift pattern and participation in the on call and standby rota, you’ll gain exposure to a diverse caseload while helping to provide responsive support when patients need it most.

At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of. We care that you want working conditions that support your health and wellbeing. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare, check and maintain anaesthetic equipment to ensure safe and effective use
  • Support anaesthetists during a wide range of paediatric, maternity and general surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients throughout anaesthesia, maintaining the highest standards of safety and care
  • Deliver compassionate care throughout the perioperative journey, ensuring patient comfort and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with the wider theatre team across multiple specialities to support excellent clinical outcomes

What you’ll bring:

  • Current HCPC registration as an Operating Department Practitioner or NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Extensive post registration experience within anaesthetic theatres
  • Recognised anaesthetics qualification or anaesthetic course
  • Experience preparing and managing anaesthetic rooms and equipment safely and effectively
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care within a multidisciplinary theatre environment

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
