Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Hours & Schedule: Full-time

Work Environment: Hybrid

Travel Required: 1–2 days per week in Prescott, AZ

Why work with us:

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a smaller, mission-driven healthcare nonprofit organization in Arizona. We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer who is ready to take ownership of the finance function, strengthen financial operations, and help build a more efficient and sustainable financial foundation.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors, influence organizational strategy, and lead important financial improvements. With a small finance team and significant opportunities for process improvement, the incoming CFO will have the ability to make a lasting difference.

What our ideal new team member looks like:

Our ideal candidate is a hands-on, strategic financial leader who enjoys both high-level planning and rolling up their sleeves to solve complex financial challenges.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable stepping into an evolving financial environment, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing practical solutions. The right individual will bring strong financial judgment, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to evaluate existing financial information, improve reporting accuracy, and establish more effective accounting practices.

This person should be collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working with a small team while serving as a trusted financial partner to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee and strengthen the financial operations of a healthcare nonprofit organization in Arizona.

The CFO will lead a small finance team and take an active role in evaluating and improving existing accounting processes, billing and collections, financial reporting, and overall financial accuracy.

A key priority will be reviewing financial information from prior years, identifying areas that require reconciliation or correction, and establishing reliable financial processes that support transparency and informed decision-making.

The organization currently operates across multiple systems with limited integration. The CFO will help identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve reporting capabilities, and implement more effective financial solutions.

In addition to overseeing daily financial operations, this individual will play a critical role in forecasting, financial planning, and preparing the organization for upcoming operational changes and strategic initiatives.

This is a hybrid position based in Phoenix, Arizona, with travel to Prescott approximately 1–2 days per week.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and oversight of the organization's accounting and finance operations.
  • Lead, support, and develop a small finance team while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
  • Evaluate historical financial records and identify discrepancies, reporting concerns, and opportunities for corrective action.
  • Review and improve billing, collections, and revenue management processes to strengthen financial performance.
  • Assess the accuracy and reliability of financial statements and implement improvements to financial reporting practices.
  • Develop and standardize accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial workflows.
  • Evaluate existing financial systems and identify opportunities to improve integration, efficiency, and data accuracy.
  • Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning initiatives.
  • Develop financial models and projections to support upcoming organizational changes and new initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the CEO to evaluate financial performance, organizational priorities, and strategic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to provide financial insights, reporting, and recommendations.
  • Identify financial risks, operational inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings or process improvements.
  • Establish clear, accurate, and timely financial reporting to support informed leadership decisions.
  • Balance strategic financial planning with hands-on involvement in day-to-day financial operations.
  • Support the development of a sustainable and efficient finance function aligned with the organization's long-term goals.

Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:

  • Ability to provide strategic financial leadership and oversee accounting operations.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Ability to evaluate financial accuracy and address historical accounting discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of billing, collections, and financial process improvement.
  • Ability to assess financial systems and recommend operational improvements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with executive leadership and a Board of Directors.
  • Ability to lead a small team while remaining actively involved in financial operations.
  • Availability to travel to Prescott, AZ, approximately 1–2 days per week.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
