ELLE is looking for an Assistant Accessories Editor to help shape smart, inspiring accessories coverage across print and digital. In this role, you'll be immersed in the fashion market, from discovering emerging designers and tracking trends to bringing compelling shopping stories and editorial packages to life.

About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)

Hearst Magazines’ portfolio of more than 30 iconic brands in the U.S.—including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s BAZAAR, and Popular Mechanics — inspires, entertains, and builds new and bold experiences for an engaged and growing audience across digital, video, social and print, reaching nearly 130 million readers and site visitors each month. With sophisticated content creation, cutting-edge technology, and industry-leading data capabilities, we make media and products that move people across all platforms. We are a global media company that publishes nearly 200 magazine editions and 175 websites around the world—and together, we are shaping what’s next.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Assist in planning, reporting, and executing accessories content across print and digital editorial packages.
  • Research trends, emerging designers, seasonal collections, and market developments across handbags, shoes, jewelry, watches, and other accessories categories.
  • Support photo shoots by preparing accessories pulls, organizing looks, coordinating shipments, and assisting with on-set needs, including opportunities to style accessories and soft goods.
  • Manage and maintain oversight of budgets related to designer sample shipments and coordinate Letters of Responsibility (LORs) and other required insurance coverage.
  • Attend market appointments, previews, and brand events to gather information, build relationships, and identify strong editorial opportunities.
  • Help produce shopping pages, market stories, trend roundups, and accessories-focused features, while contributing copy for front-of-book pages, digital stories, shopping edits, and product-focused content.
  • Recruit and train fashion closet assistants while ensuring accurate records of incoming and outgoing samples, credits, and fashion closet organization.
  • Partner with PR contacts, brands, stylists, photographers, and cross-functional editorial teams to ensure stories are executed smoothly, accurately, and on deadline.

Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • 1+ years of editorial, fashion market, or accessories experience, preferably at a magazine, digital publisher, or luxury fashion brand, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the accessories market, including designers, brands, trends, and luxury and contemporary positioning.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced editorial environment.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to develop clear, engaging product and editorial copy.
  • Experience with sample management, fashion closet organization, and photo shoot support is preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing, commerce, and editorial storytelling is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Bridge, and InCopy, is helpful but not required.
  • Collaborative, proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to build effective relationships across editorial and external partners.
  • This role is based in the New York City office and requires working in the office four days per week.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
