The posting

((Station)), the ((AAA)) affiliate in ((location)), has an opening for an experienced Meteorologist. We are looking for a meteorologist who understands the science and can tell a relatable weather story.

The ideal candidate is an accurate forecaster who helps keep viewers and employees safe, conveys the appropriate tone, summarizes complicated information and stays calm in all situations. You will report to the ((manager)).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare viewers with accurate, compelling and understandable weather forecasts.
  • Provide urgent, immediate weather information before and during severe weather events.
  • Provide content simultaneously on television, for radio partners and across digital platforms.
  • Use available technology to tell an engaging weather story.
  • Deploy in the field during weather events as needed.
  • Gather information and summarize facts and content for broadcast.

Requirements

  • Professional or educational on-air experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage.
  • In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting.
  • Dynamic on-air presence with a conversational weather presentation style.
  • Ability to interpret and translate high-powered radar data.
  • Experience with common television weather systems.
  • Experience with live field reporting on weather and other topics.
  • NWA and CBM seals are a plus.
  • Related military experience will be considered.

Compensation

This position is paid based on commissions, depending on performance and other criteria set forth by management. The range below represents the Company's good-faith estimate at the time of posting.

Anticipated Compensation Range:

$100,000—$120,000 USD
