About Hebrew Public

Hebrew Public is a small and growing network of schools operated by Hebrew Public: Charter Schools for Global Citizens. Hebrew Public is a secular organization that welcomes candidates of all backgrounds into a supportive and inclusive community.

Across the network, Hebrew Public schools serve children from all backgrounds and help students become global citizens who are strong problem solvers, aware communicators, and lifelong learners committed to making a positive difference in the world around them. Our schools are models of racial and economic integration, academic excellence, and world language learning.

Why PHP?

As part of Hebrew Public, Philadelphia Hebrew Public teachers and staff have the opportunity to bring that mission to life with students from over 37 zip codes across Philadelphia, primarily Black and Brown students whose brilliance, curiosity, and potential drive our work every day.

PHP is rooted in the belief that all students deserve rigorous academics, strong relationships, and access to a globally minded education that expands what they see as possible for themselves. For educators who want their work to matter beyond the classroom walls, PHP offers a place to help close opportunity gaps while nurturing students academically, socially, and culturally.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled, joyful, and student-centered Hebrew Teacher who is excited to help young learners build confidence, curiosity, and a love of Hebrew.

The teacher will co-teach 30-minute Hebrew classes for 1st- and 2nd-grade students, working closely with another educator to create joyful, immersive, and highly interactive learning experiences. Together, they will plan and deliver instruction that builds students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, with a strong focus on oral language, comprehension, confidence, and participation, while creating a positive classroom where all students can grow.

Beyond Hebrew instruction, this teacher will play an active role in the broader school community through lunch and recess coverage and by teaching a 6th-grade elective.

What You’ll Do

  • Teach engaging 30-minute Hebrew classes for 1st- and 2nd-grade students using an immersive approach focused on speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Use songs, games, movement, play, stories, and routines to make Hebrew joyful, accessible, and meaningful
  • Co-teach with another educator to plan instruction, support student needs, and maintain a positive classroom environment
  • Use and adapt the provided Hebrew curriculum and instructional resources to support student growth
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on observations and student work
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a strong school culture
  • Provide lunch and recess coverage
  • Teach a 6th-grade elective

Who You Are

  • Deep belief in the limitless potential of Black and Brown students and commitment to helping them thrive as global citizens.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Strong Hebrew language proficiency, including the ability to model accurate spoken Hebrew for beginning learners.
  • Experience working in urban school communities is preferred.
  • Experience teaching Hebrew, world languages, or elementary education strongly preferred.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a joyful, inclusive learning environment with clear routines and high expectations.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work effectively within a co-teaching model.
  • Ability to engage young learners through songs, games, movement, storytelling, and play-based instruction.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.
  • Pennsylvania teaching certification, or active progress toward appropriate certification, preferred.
  • Flexibility to support lunch or recess coverage and potentially teach a middle school elective.

After your first year, you may be eligible for 5% up to 10% increases annually based on your classroom impact, without needing additional graduate coursework. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
