Dispatcher Position Summary The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and dispatching traffic control crews to job sites to ensure customer requirements are met safely, accurately, and on schedule. This position serves as a key point of communication between field crews, customers, project teams, and internal operations. The Dispatcher must be able to manage multiple priorities throughout the day, respond quickly to changing conditions, and provide crews with the information and support they need to successfully complete each assignment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Review the daily job schedule, traffic control plans, work orders, and other project information to prepare crews for scheduled assignments. Dispatch traffic control crews to job sites based on customer requirements, project schedules, crew availability, and operational needs. Communicate job-specific information, instructions, traffic control requirements, and special considerations to field crews to ensure they have a clear understanding of each assignment. Monitor scheduled work throughout the day and promptly communicate any changes, delays, cancellations, or additional customer requirements. Manage crew callouts and scheduling changes while working to ensure customer commitments and service requirements are maintained. Serve as a primary point of contact for field crews throughout the workday and provide support related to safety concerns, work zone setups, scheduling conflicts, and other operational needs. Review and interpret construction plans and traffic control plans to help determine the appropriate resources, equipment, and traffic control requirements needed to support the contractor's scope of work. Coordinate with internal teams and field personnel to resolve scheduling and operational issues efficiently. Maintain accurate and timely communication regarding job status, crew assignments, schedule changes, and customer needs. Ensure all dispatching and operational activities are performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.  

Key Skills and Qualifications

Strong understanding of traffic control operations, work zone setups, and the management of traffic control crews. Ability to read and understand construction plans and traffic control plans. Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate instructions and information to field personnel, customers, and internal teams. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and address potential scheduling or operational issues. Ability to manage multiple jobs, crews, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficient computer skills and ability to learn and utilize company scheduling and dispatch systems. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team. Cooperative and professional attitude with a strong commitment to customer service. Willingness to expand industry knowledge, learn new skills, and stay current with traffic control practices and requirements. Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-oriented when handling unexpected changes or time-sensitive issues. Commitment to following company policies, procedures, and safety requirements at all times.
